So Cal Rides
#2
Usually up ACH and then a left turn at the first Ranger station (the part where it's Angeles Forest Hwy). Usually to the Tree (heading towards Hwy 14), and back around some of the side roads there (Lower Big T, Upper Big T, etc).
Once in awhile, Azusa Hwy (Hwy 39) over to Glendora. And GMR, when it's open.
And once in a blue moon, in the Malibu canyons. Although with the snow lately, a snowmobile would be a better bet.

Is that open again, I thought they closed the top of 39? I grew up at the base of Glendora Mountain Road- we used to skateboard down it when I was kid (I've got the speed wobble scars to prove it. Also used to be an infamous weekend party/makeout spot for us in H.S.). GMR is very tight, and over the past few years they've thrown down gravel and closed it at night to keep the people off of it. Haven't been back there in several years, have things changed?

The top of Hwy 39 is always closed...the part that leads up to Crystal Lake, right? It was open once a few years ago, and a few friends and I rode up that way. Some parts were wide open, and others were super-tight and butt-puckering with sheer drops and water running across the road.
A few miles before the 39 is closed, you can take East Fork over to what I call GMR, but some people call GRR. The GRR part starts when you head towards Mt Baldy. I think...
