Riders in Northern Virginia

I work in PWilly but live in Hanover so I'm always riding around the area. I'm doing a ride tomorrow that starts just below Ashland. Should take about an hour and some change to get there from Manassas. PM if interested.

Ride on Sunday
I'm workin on getting a ride together for Sunday. Possibly to MD with a guy who rides up there a lot. I'll be coming up from the Richmond area so if anybody wants to meet down there PM me. Then we can head up to the Manassas area and meet up somewhere. Unfortunately its a holiday weekend so somehow we will have to stay low pro but I think it'll be impossible with these Vtwins.. I'm gonna bring ear plugs LOL.
So if anybody wants to get together on Sunday that is in the Richmond / NoVa area, PM me or just reply to this thread and we'll figure something out.

Here is a ride I have come up with. There are many options along the way, but this is a good "first time route". Later we can branch off of it. This link is the starting point....
http://maps.yahoo.com/broadband#mvt=...9.465089&mag=2
Head left on the map and follow these directions....they will take you through the run.........
1. From 81, head west on "Tuscarora Pike" Rt. 15
2. That road turns into "Boyds Gap" Rt. 15/18
3. Stay left at first fork and continue onto "Hampshire Grade Rd." Rt. 7/13
4. Turn left onto "Romney Martinsburg" Rt. 13/15
5. Turn Left onto "Winchester Grade Rd." Rt. Cr.13
6. Stay Right to go onto "Blue Rock Road" Rt. Cr.11
7. Stay Left at fork to stay on "Blue Rock Rd."
8. "Blue Rock Rd." will turn into "Morgan Rd."
9. Left onto "N fredrick Pike"
Plan A from this point...
10. Left onto "Chapel Hill Rd."
11. That turns into "Bush Creek Rd."
12. Turn left onto "Howards Chapel Rd."
13. Right on "Green Spring Rd."
14. Right on "Apple Pie Ridge Rd."
15. 37 South to 81 to 66
Or plan B....
We could stay on 522 and skip that last bit. It would take about half as long for that last part

I have printed out a few copies of a Google map but I couldn't get that link to come up cause I don't have Flashplayer 9. I just talked to the guy that planned the route and he said it'll take about 1 hour and 15 minutes to get to the starting point in Martinsburg. He also said we can eat lunch there too.
As of right now, the meeting place will be 1030 at the 7-11 at ***** Ford Rd and Prince William Pkwy. See everyone tomorrow.
Anyone coming from Richmond, I will meet in Thornburg off 95 at 0930 at the Valero by 95.

Well, besides a few people saying they were coming and then not show, it was amazing. We took the "planned route" which ended up being bumpy tar and gravel through the mountains and although it was enjoyable on the Hawk, I don't think it was as nice on a CBR. So we (myself, Reaper, and a guy on a CBR) went exploring. We found a nice road with lines going through the mountains and took that to Paw Paw which turned out to a great choice. There were cops everywhere in VA but once we hit WV we didn't see one until we got on 81 to head back.
My buddy on the CBR wants to do it again, but leave early and ride a lot further. I think we did between 300 - 400 miles total. The roads were curvy enough that I didn't even have a flat spot on my tires from all the interstates. He also wants to do a ride out 211 to Skyline Drive and back on 33 sometime soon.

I hooked up with some more people from Richmond Ryders on Sunday. We took some back roads west out to Rt.56, then over to Lovingston. 7 of us. About 250 miles maybe. 56 is an awesome road, but it's an hour to get there.
Never been to Paw Paw, but I see on the map that it's near where I've been wanting to ride... Take 522 up over the PA border into Bedford County. Supposed to be some really good roads there.

I rode with the Richmond Ryderz today and we did the same trip yall did last week down 56. The guy on the BMW wanted to keep going so 4 of us headed even further up 56 to the Blue Ridge Parkway back to 64. It was an amazing ride. That last part of 56 i TWISTY! Somehow we all made it back in one piece. The only law we saw all day was on 250 just as my front tire reconnected with asphalt cresting a hill. Luckily I was doing the speed limit.
I think the plans are to do it again next Sunday. Hopefully it will be another small group by the time we get to the good stuff. I think we started with 12 which is way too many for that tight road.
10am at Quiccosin and Blue Jay next Sunday!

Sounds like a good day... hmmmm... guess I messed up by giving away my favorite road!!! The backside of 56 on the other side of the BRP is cool too. Maybe a bit tighter, but better pavement.
I'll try to make it Sunday, if you guys will wait for me. I tend to stay 10 over on the straight stuff most of the time... for some reason I don't find $1000 Civil Fees, higher insurance rates & jail time too attractive! (If I'm gonna get ticketed, I'd rather be riding the curves.)
BTW, my trip to PA sucked.... spent way too much time on crappy roads... lesson learned!

Sunday Ride!
It's almost Sunday already! Looks like we are doing the same ride as last week and the week before. 0930 at Quioccasin and Blue Jay Ln. I might go a little early and stop by Wawa on W.Broad where the Triumph V. Ducati guys are meeting to stir them up a bit. They are meeting at 9am.

Between Manassas and Richmond, Fredricksburg area, leaving by 10 am. I have a company burn at 4 pm Saturday. Or we can do North of Manassas towards Leesburg/Middleburg. I am game to ride any where, my only concern is the possibility of rain in the forecast.
