NH SEASON KICK-OFF
#301
I had mine in at SVM putting in RaceTech springs a couple of weeks ago. I bought my yellow 1999 November 21st of last year, put 100 or so miles on it and then put it away for the winter. I'm having fun but I need to be rejetted as well. I hope Scott and Kurt learn all they need to know fixing up yours so they can get mine done right too!
lol. I think they learned a lot from my hawk. turns out the kick stand switch was bad and that wasn't letting the bike go over 5k rpm. don't ask me how that is so or how they figured it out!. but the good news is they says its running strong and will be ready in a week after they put the new switch in. I trust that they got the jetting dialed in like they say they did. I am totally looking forward to getting out and RIDING!!! I will probably be in the area during the weekend of April 17, if its nice out, lets ride!

^interesting problem you had there. sometimes when i kick stand it the amber S light doesn't illuminate and a few jiggles later it does. I'll have to take it off and clean it it's all greasy and such. Also just got my new tires should have them mounted Friday, I'm up for some (a lot of) riding.

so much for having a decent weekend to ride. Oh well, atleast the hawk is back in my possession. they pulled some numbers for me at SVM. with 55 degrees and 60% humidity the bike was able to put out 102 hp and 67 ft.lb torque. rode it shorty after, yeah in the rain and everything. IT RAN GREAT! many many kudo's to SVM, they worked hard and persistent with this bike that has been anything but well behaved and have turned it into a dream machine.
I'll be back around nh monday may 10. I'll be doing some all-day rides that week with a buddy that has a RSV factory. thing is done up to the 9's, 3mm bore...everything. used to be his dad's race bike and now it's my buddy's daily driver. so anyone who wants to join us, more than welcome!

Souhegan Valley Motorsports is a Kawasaki dealer in Milford, NH. I live about a mile from them. They have a 2010 Kawasaki Z1000 to take demo rides on. My other bike is a 2003 Z1000 so I'll be there just to take a ride on that. Dyno runs too. They do work on my Superhawk.

OK, now it's May. I'd say pick and date and set it up, cause no date's gonna be perfect for everyone. How about a moto-camping SH weekend. Smuggler's Notch VT for a destination? If anybody's up for this sort of bash, we should pick a weekend that's out there a bit and make a plan. 5/15 is out for me for coming up for a day ride. Many of you guys up for 5/16, given decent weather???

Mtr, I think bike week is over rated, unless you like letting your bike sit in traffic instead of riding it. Even if you do get through, then you're in a sea of harley's and cruisers and its all commercialized. Kinda lame IMO. I have been once and that was one time too many. But to each their own I suppose..
Raptor- I rode Scott's z1000 last week. holy S man. That thing is scary fast. its a torque monster through all rpm ranges. I was sooo surprised by it. I didn't expect it to pick up until it hit 9-10K rpm. nope. 4-5Krpm and it takes off. And you might think that the wind is really bad since there really not much for a windscreen. Pleasantly surprised again, the wind is actually not that bad. if I only had an extra $10K. darn.
When I ride it is usually spur of the moment, and I don't plan for it more than 2 days in advance. If there is anyone out there who is up for some riding, PM me your email or number and I'll email/call you next time I go out. Usually during the weekdays I am free to ride. I guess we could try to set something up on the forum but the weather is so off and on its hard to plan anything and have it follow through.

I rode Scotts Z1000 last week as well when I took my Z in for NH inspection. Mine is a 2003 and I did notice the 2010 has more juice and of course everything is updated (brakes, etc) which you'd expect. The 2003 model has 953CC and is liberally rounded up to 1000. After riding the SH now for this season I have noticed that I get buffeted around quite a bit on the Z. The SH is my first bike with any kind of fairing so I noticed that right away. The Z is technologically superior to the SH but I really like riding the SH more at least right now.
I would like to go out for a ride. What are you doing this Saturday? The weather is looking good!
If a week day is better, I am on vacation the week of the 4th.

I'm out-straight this weekend. Anyone around during the week? I don't know if I am working on Tuesday but if I'm not and anyone else is free I am thinking maybe do an all afternoon ride on Tuesday then head down to bike night in Lowell for 7pm show off the hawks then scatter.
