NC & TN locals... could use a little help.

This is the route I always use , It does have about 40 minutes of boring slab in it ( kinda unavoidable ) Also if your going to Suches , you gotta at least do " The Loop " . I highlighted on the map .....http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...,0.617981&z=11 Let me know when you plan on heading down ...I may be up in hills & I would be more than happy to show you some of the lesser known good roads up there .

Thanks HRC. I'm guessing The Loop includes Wolf Pen Gap Rd.

Ya, you defiantly have to do the loop. If you tell me when your coming down I'll come up and do the loop with you.

Dudes, wolf pen gap (hwy180) sucks because of the pavement, recently i was there and it was soooo terrible! Ride 60 instead! WAYYYY better!

I like 180 ...when it doesnt have gravel on it . I ride with a couple of guys that HATE 180 ! they say the corners are just too tight with some high drop offs . I think thats what I like about it ! It's a good road to separate " the men from the boys" As long as the road is clean ! Besides , its part of "The Loop" he's gotta do it ! Especially if he's right there . LOL !

Thanks for the ideas.

Far as getting down there from Fontana - rather than taking Wayah Rd. to Franklin & hopping on 64, which I'm assuming is mostly slab (?), what about this: Take Dick's Creek Rd. off Wayah, which becomes Big Choga Rd. & Tuni Gap Rd. & Tusquittee Rd. and ends up down at 64 on the GA border? Anybody done this? Is it paved? Is the road decent?

After looking at Google Maps , that looks like a funner route . But Like you said ..some of it may not even be paved ! I also see that is a state bicycle route which is a good sign that it is paved . If you try that route let us know how it is . That 30-40 minute stretch of 4 lane on 129 sux ( unless you like to do extended wheelies ) Just dont get caught !

Yeah, I hate a straight road. I have the stock seat and it is fine as long as you're in the curves & moving around on the seat, but start slabbin' and it becomes a board in about 10 minutes!
