Prepping for a trip on Arizona's kinda sorta equivalent of the tail of the dragon. Ninety three miles of what I hope will be fun. Last time on the road some 30 years ago driving a full size van, wore my arms our sawing the steering wheel back and forth, I told myself never again. Should be a very different experience on the bike. Usually ride alone, but will be two other riders that have traveled here a few times before.
Take pictures xeris......lots
Roads that look like snakes are real eye candy for someone that lives here where I do.
For the most part our roads here only become curvey above 100 m.p.h..............
Back from what was a three day trip. The map in my first post has what is a loop. North on US 191, then hwy 180 into NM to hwy 78 back into AZ. Best ride I have ever done. Once past Clifton, there is almost zero traffic on 191. Two other bikes, one or two vehicles, that was it. Bike ran well enough on the road, but on the gravel road into the first campground, at and just above idle, the engine was not happy. That is what 9072' of elevation will do to a carbureted engine. Another trip in September is planed.
On the way up.
First night camp area.
