Yosh vs. D&D
I purchased a 2004 VTR in the summer that had just had a jet kit installed waiting for new cans. I'm told D&D cans are really loud and I should go with the Yosh? Any thoughts.......
I have a black VTR and want to go with black cans....

You were told right. D&D cans set new levels in ear bleeding stats. Too bad you installed your new jets before the new cans, you get to do it again.

I had a set of Yoshimuras before I got Migs. I loved 'em. Nice tone, clean looks and quality fit. I repacked them and sold them to a site member.

I got my Yosh slip-ons last May as part of the crash repair, after getting rear ended at a red light. They were $350 cheaper than new stock cans.
I love 'em! With the street baffles installed, it's slightly louder than stock, but with a much nicer, deeper tone. It takes less than 1 minute to remove the street baffles, which makes it much louder. I've switched back and forth several times, but right now I'm running it with the baffles removed. It turns heads when I fire it up at the local biker breakfast place on Sunday mornings.
They're also very high quality finish. I recommend them highly.

D&Ds are loud, but are they louder than other straight through cans? The Migs I have heard are at least as loud as my D&Ds.
The Yosh's (with street baffles, anyway) are definitely quieter, though.

LOVE the sound of my D+Ds everyone turns to see and i am heard easily on the road especially when i crack the throttle 
also easy to clean, look great when i keep them polished if you dont mind loud go for it

I disagree, they are built very well.
I don't know how loud MIG or YOSHIs are but my D&Ds get loud up to about 3500 RPM then the sound just gets faster unless you go WOT. I would not say that they are extreemly loud. My 1986 GSX-R750 with Full Yoshimura is louder.
And i can honestly say that the sound saved me from getting side swiped.
Edit: Also seeing HD riders turn heads looking at what's that is priceless.

exactly, thats pretty much an opinion, D+D's are built REALLY well great sound and deffinetly have saved me more than once on the highway

I have D&Ds. I usually get chirps from car alarms when passing, and have set them off a couple times. Having been on the stationary side of an alarm set off by a passing bike, I view this as a negative.
The left side can has had several rivets pop out where the pipe expands to meet the can, so there's a slight sag there which looks real quality.
I love the actual sound they make, and my wrist can control whether or not the alarms go off, and loud on the freeway is a good thing IMO. I've had them for 3 years (PO had them installed) and am in no hurry to replace them.
I have no personal experience with Yosh.

And this has absolutely nothing to do with if the pipes are D&D's, Yoshi's or whatever... It's just a function of two big *** 500cc cylinders giving of mean exhaust pulses that can crack any rivet and any CF exhaust given enough time... Re-packing and replacing rivets is maintainance and should be done on any pipe regardless of make... Ie I doubt it's D&D's quality that's the problem... Your quality of maintainance is however possibly questionable...
I have Jardine RT-One's with the race core... They sound meaner than a friends D&D's at low revs but are infact less noisy at speed... I find them to be a decent compromise... And setting of car alarms is more a matter of choice than anything else... I could do that with the de-baffled stockers just as easily...

I bought Erion cans/mids for $140.00 from a member here with not a scratch on them. They sound amazing, they're light, they're black. And yeah yeah, I guess it's important....I get car alarm chirps when I coast by at idle. They are not, however, disturbing. I am deff in one ear though
