XL1000 Varadero

as you know the Varadero was not sold in the US

but here in europe there not common like BMW GS etc.

but i am mechanic at a newly exspanded motorcycle and moped store
and i needed to fix a exhaust leak on the varadero

and a general service.....
is was like nice gonna be as smooth as with the hawk with tear down and stuff..... but i was soon brought back to reality that this is so different then a hawk its not even funny,
to get exhaust system is a bitch you need to remove so much his bill was rocketing like crazy.....
but anyway...... when i removed the HUGE gas tank finally with so much issues compared to the hawk, and there it was... a hawk engine with FI
but its pretty crowded under that tank with stuff + a really big fuel pump
wich can or cannot be transferred on the hawk if you like,
but i think getting a RC51 injectors and TBs would be better along with the whole wiring harness and VFR tank with pump.

Are you thinking of doing this?

A few people have tried before!

if i can get some parts on the cheap side
i might try this, as with most of you the hawk drains my wallet with gas
and FI would be really nice, with a PC3 added and dyno tuning it would eat less gas

Not much less. The RC51 drinks. It's a lot of work for very little gains IMO Dont forget the Varadero has different cams and is more tuned down VTR engine which gives it better economy. Have you had a recent dyno run on your bike as it stands to see where the fuelling is at. Economy can be gained there if things are accurate, but at the end of the day big V twins like a drink.
