Woodwork

Okay, I was just browsing/searching our members list and I found at least a half-dozen members who've been on the forum for 2 years or more and are active members with recent activity! I'm not going to mention any names...YET, so this is your opportunity to come out of the woodwork and introduce yourself. Yes, your keyboard works and no we won't scare you away (kickenchicken - lay low on this one! ). I just think it'd be great if you folks would start sharing some of your knowledge, experience, and humor.

Thank you. That is all.

Well.. don't know if I was one of the names... but I'll chime in...

I'm Jason B... I live in Mount Vernon, NY... I'm 35 although my wife thinks I act like I'm 23.... been on the Hawk for 4 years... sportbikes since '92... and dirtbikes since I was 10 (although the last dirt bike I owned was a CR 80... it was awhile back!!!)

As far as the bike...
I can give adivce on R/R's (replaced mine)
APE CCT's (replaced mine)
Fork spring / valve install (replaced mine)
RC51 brake swap to VTR...
RC51 swap (in progress)...
And anything else I've screwed up then fixed but can't think of at this moment!!!!

Hello.

My name is Geoff and I'm a Motorcycle Junkie.

I've been around this board since the RLZ days....bought my 'Storm in July of 1999 to replace my Moto Guzzi 850-T5 that I had been riding for 15 years. Before that I had a Harley (9 years) and a 750 Honda and a 750 BSA and a Honda 150 Benley and a home made mini bike. I've been riding for close to 40 years.

Superhawk mods to date include:

HeliBars with heated grips
Napoleon Barend mirrors
LP Tankbra
Sargent Saddle
SECDEM HP windscreen
SS Clutch and brake lines
Tailocker
Ventura Sportrack/Grabrail
Home made saddlebags & racks
V&H S4 slipons (headers ceramic coated)
Carbs jetted (45 pilot;180/182 mains;Factory Stage 1 needle -middle clip)
Racetech .8kg fork springs (no Gold Valve)
Ohlins Shock
NWS Black Hugger

120,000kms
More smiles than I can remember.

A most excellent ride.

It might be that they are like me on the other forums. VFR, Firestorm UK and Oz. I read a lot and contribute little or none. Some of the same guys show up on the other boards so it's like I know some people there and they know me (just like they hang out here but infrequently). I have never posted to the VFR site because I really don't know much about the bike other than normal maintenance. It's virtually a brand new bike but it's 10 years old and finding parts for it is worse than the Superhawk. I peruse the want ads and not much more. Everything else I need I get out of the shop manual. The biggest problem with the VFR is that Honda made all these versions at about 3 to 4 years per model so it's cut the model into several small groups. The Superhawk was a cookie (nearly) for its entire run. That makes us a very special group.

Hi, kenny here. I live in Tampa, FL. I bought the hawk new in 00 and have been riding it since. I have had many bikes, currently an 03 roadstar warrior and an old KZ1000P (cop bike). Sadly the ol Superhawk is under construction, due to an unfortunate meeting with an out of control 18yo cage driver. I have built many cars from the ground up but no bikes. I really appreciate all of the knowledge and ideas you guys have and will be cribbing your notes on my street fighter build. Thanks.
P.S.
First bike was the Honda Hurricane (Even Ninjas hide from a Hurricane, for those that remember) Moved on to an F2, then an F3 then the Superhawk, have had a couple others but wont sell the Hawk.

Know it? Dude, I have the freekin' poster. AND it's still in the original wrapping and never been mounted. It doesn't have that marketing catch phrase printed on it though but it's the exact same shot with the leaves blowing, etc. Bought it at some generic mall kiosk back then.

Guilty ...Lurking here for a while now; from Calgary Alberta...teach at a tech institute...love bikes-cars-planes (got a commercial license 18 years ago, but don't use it now) or anything with a motor! Much appreciative of all the knowledge here!! Bought a used '98 'storm in Nov. w/22000 km. I chose the VTR b/c of a close encounter with an RC51 that came blazing up behind me while I was driving my '06 Si (scared the crap out of me, but I LOVE the sound!!). Haven't owned a bike since I sold my '85 FJ1100 in '87, so it's been a while. A bit of research and I came up with the VTR1000F. Put on Yoshimura slip-ons, bought a custom SYED 2 pc., just installed Racetech springs to support my ever-expanding mass. Leaving on a bike trip with some friends into the best roads BC has to offer in a little less than a month.

Cheers!

Steve

Ahh yes, coming over from the dreaded TL-1000 forum to see what a REAL V-Twin sport bike is all about!

Hi, my name is Dave and I'm an alcoholic.
Wait, wrong meeting....

I think if Greg had gone up to less than 5 messages I would have been included, this should be message number three for me. Been lurking for some time, picking up great info for my 02 SHawk. I've never spoken out much before because I've noticed that the info given on this forum is usually pretty accurate. That's what I like about it here, only a few idiots clogging up the forums.

About myself, I'm in the NW suburbs of Chicago in Palatine. 34, single, I work at O'Hare for AA as a CSM dealing with baggage. Yes, my guys are the ones who lose your luggage. Mostly use the SHawk for commuting and short rides, but planning on making a trip up to Minneapolis some time this summer. I fell in love with the sound of a Ducati 916, but couldn't justify the costs of purchase and maintenance. I've always loved Honda cars-thanks to my brother-and got a great deal on an 02 in April 03. I love having a bike that sounds like Ducati made by Honda.

As far as my SHawk, pretty much stock until this spring when I did the following:
Leo Vince SBK low mounts
HeliBars
Sargent Seat
Clear Alternatives LED tail light w/ integrated turn signals

So far, no problems with either the R/R or CCTs, though I probabily just jinxed myself. The only other things I'll likely do is change the gearing when I do the next chain and sprocket, and change out the front turn signals once I finally find ones I like enough.

That's enough, back to lurking.

Hey, Manning. Glad you could join us! Being a long time owner I'm sure you could post more often. And of course you could throw some valuable opinion around too, since 99.9% of all Superhawk owners are highly opinionated, Type A personalities.

Hey Fishface. Congrats on your 16th post. You're fairly new here so I wouldn't have even considered putting you on the list.

Hey, shouldn't your sig read, "A hand in the bush is better than a bird in the bush"?
