Who rides what for other bikes?
#61
I wish i still had my 2003 GSX-R1000...Once i save up enough to get one again i'll never let it go. That bike was the perfect bike for me (after about 15hp worth of mods, mild suspension tunage and brake upgrades).

ie, a NT650, loved my tricked out 88 GT with 65,000 trouble free miles; still have a bunch of spare parts for it laying around... great urban assault weapon!
my 80 F kept having false neutrals when shifting between 2 & 3 at high revs, scared the heck out of me & GF once passing a semi when another was heading our way.
Neat bike for its time. I had a Vetter Quicksilver frame mounted sport fairing on it and a luggage rack. Only kept it a few months because of the false neutrals & it was so heavy compared to the Brit, Duetch & Italia I'd been riding for 10 years prior.

Oh Yeah the NT650 will never go away, in fact it just might multiply in my garage. What you got you for parts Skokie? I'm always on the lookout.

Other Bikes You Own
How many of you own bikes other than your Superhawk? I bought an 07 CBR1000RR last fall. I was gonna replace my Superhawk but decided I couldn't part with it. Just interested in knowing if anybody else feels the same way.
#67
I added the Superhawk (Firestorm in Canada) to my Buell Lightning last fall. Similar position to you....I wanted to try a a different bike but did not want part with my exisiting ride.
Love the VTR! Great value and performance....Just waiting for the snow to go and get riding....

Yeah I had a zx12 awhile back side by side with the superhawk. It was an amazing bike, but I kept my superhawk and sold it to a friend. She's my keeper (and also my biggest project of all). Have some parts on order and I'm hoping to get her back together soon. I always have other bikes in the garage but they're all pretty much projects of some sorts that eventually get sold after I shine up 'em up. Kind of my little hobby to keep my mind clear. Recently finished and sold a '99 superhawk and an '01 sv650. Still have a 9k mile '93 shadow 1100 that will probably also get sold in the near future. Need room and $ for new projects!

Not a criticism, 'cause the search function leaves a lot to be desired. Just sayin', for future reference, better to continue a previous thread than start multiple others on the same topic.

Spousal unit limits the resources and the garage limits the space but...
'98 S'hawk (Moriwakied up to pro-dancing specs)
'92 BMW (Luftmeistered up and overbored), now adopted by a neighbor but visits home often.
'80's Yamaha 650 twin flat-trackered for the street. (sold)
'70's Kawi Z-1 Yoshied up for the track (sold)
'73 BMW R 75/5 Run over by a blond in a red 1970 Dodge Challenger w/383 4-bbl.
'71 Honda CB 500/4 Under-appreciated at the time because of the early il/4 wars but would out turn all the bigger bikes.

Was thinking to sell my 'Hawk to partially fund my purchase of the 2001 Hayabusa I was racing, but could not bring myself to part with it. So I bought the Busa and kept the SuperChicken. That's how much I love this bike. It's only worth a couple grand on Craigslist but is worth way more than that to me. I've ridden all kinds of different bikes, including "the world's fastest production motorcycle" and I never get tired of swingin' my leg over this little sweetheart. And I haven't even upgraded the suspension yet, so she's got a lotta fun miles left in her.

Lol. You need to get a cheap digi cam and send some pics this way.
I went to price out a flooring job for a guy who had a dune buggy. 2 honda race quads. Cbr600rr for his 16 year old. A couple buel sport bikes. A hayabusa for himself. An r1 for his wife.

How do you like the SuperDuke? There are a couple 08's up here in Canada going for $10,000 new. I have a Duke II and love it but the 990 looks like the bike to have.

I can't say much yet about the '08 KTM SD. I snuck out to the MVD about a month ago between snowstorms (we've had 156" so far this winter) to get it titled and plated. About 30 miles round trip. The WP suspension was supple but well controlled, the brakes excellent, the KTM Akrapovic mapping was very good too. Fit and finish are great- as expected from an Austrian product. I bought the SD, sight unseen, from a Ducati dealer in Seattle after stumbling across his ad in the 'vendors' section of 'sport-touring.net.' The ad, and pics, are still there too.

Man... I am jealous of every one of these lists!
Have my Superhawk sitting all alone in the garage, but I am slowly looking for a project bike of some sort. Not sure what direction I want to go yet. Possibly leaning toward a 90's sport bike though.

And people around here say i was bad, i have nothing compaired to these lists. I have my 2000 Hawk, 2001 Hayabusa, 2007 Buell Blast(great to teach people on and couldn't pass up the $1000 deal for it), 1998 CBR Smokin Joes, 1978 KZ200 and a 1996 CBR F3

I always loved the Smokin Joes paint scheme.
One of these days I will have a nice bike collection but right now no money or space

Present other bikes, in age order:
'51 Royal Enfield Bullet classic racer
'61 Honda 50 Stepthru
'64 Honda CB77 ("305SS" here, "Superhawk", believe it or not, in the USA)
'71 Yamaha TR3/R5
'73 Honda XL250 Motosport
'74 OSSA MAR250
'74 OSSA 250 Explorer
'77 Honda CB400/4
'77 Yamaha RD400
'77 Yamaha TZ350
'79 Yamaha TZ250
'82 Honda CB1100F post-classic racer
2003 Royal Enfield 350 Bullet (enduro-ised)
2007 XL1000V Varadero (SH dressed as a giant trailie, with EFI)
2008 Suzuki DR650.
All these are good runners. There's some others being rebuilt and generally messed around with eg '71 Yamaha XS650 Trackmaster, enough to make a couple more TZs, etc.
I've owned something over 120 bikes in total, and raced another 30 or 40 for other people.
Cheers.
