I'm pretty sure that is simply the superhawk's name in the rest of the world. I would however like to see this one released in the US:

The spelling of the name. Fuel tank capacity for some years, but really they are the same.

they are exactly the same

in america and other places they are called superhawk

in uk and canada i think and europe they are called firestorm

uk firestorms after 2001 got slightly different positioned handle bars, a 19l fuel tank and a finned reg rec. unsure what other countries got this

just_nick - where did you get that pic? was that released anywhere? i have never seen or heard of it, it must be a concept? just looks like a blade with a v twin in it
no other differences.

From bouncing between the two forums the US Superhawks have funny reflectors on the forks and the PAIR system. Plus obviously the graphics.

Continental Firestorms in Europe possibly would have different headlight internals to point and adjust the headlight to account for riding on the otherside of the road.

Not sure if carb settings are different to account for different fuel quality between say US and UK models.

From what I have read, the Superhawk name was given to bikes destined for the US and in the rest of the world it was called a FireStorm. I for one have a Firestorm. As far as I know they are identical just different decals. The last year or two or production, we started to get Superhawks in Canada. Perhaps someone else can confirm this!

Since you haven't specified where you are or if your bike is a Superhawk or a Firestorm, it's a bit hard to answear the question...

All Superhawks have a 16L tank 13L+3L on RLOD (reserve light)... Newer Firestorms are 19L (16+3)...

On the newer models the reserve indicator is the last bar beginning to blink...

You've got a Canadian model 2001 Firestorm. It was supposed to have a tank capacity of 19 l. like the European and Australian versions. It and all Canadian Firestorms, including the last year they were imported under the name Superhawk, have 16 l. gas tanks. There was wailing and gnashing of teeth when the issue came to light. I think Honda Canada sent watches as consolation prizes to purchasers who expected the bigger tank.

interesting. so my reserve must be around 9 liters or so. i was on the last bar today and it took 10.5 liters to fill up. either that or my gas guage is off by a bit. i knowmy buddy said some bikes will go into reserve and when they do the gas guage reads full to tell you how much reserve you have left.

so im basically good in a pinch until the last bar starts to blink. good to hear.

is there a definate way to tell how big my tank is? maybe a tag or sticker somewhere?

oh and after a spirited run the other week i figured out my gas milage, 38 mpg with some hiway pulls and some higher speed driving. quite impressed

Have a look at the fuel tap (petcock). If the tap is mounted to the tank I reckon it will be 16l. The 19l tanks had the tap mounted to the frame in front of the shock on the Australian models.

Cool thanks. That's black hawk that was posted above. Is it possible to get a lower fairig like it has going under the bike? I think that would finish off the look. I'm not sure how I like the partial fairings these things have some days.

Yes it is. Moriwaki make one, and I have seen a copy of it made in Australia.

the headlight would just have a different pattern on the lens

Gas tank

OK first time blogger/poster, and it seems like you all know your sh*t. I just recently purchase a 1998 Superhawk and love it but there are a couple things I am curious about. Previous owner "effed" up the headlight situation so now I have replaced it all but is there a way to adjust the height of the light? And secondly, I have been hearing a lot about the Superhawk vs Firestorm and there really isn't a whole lot of differenc between the two except decals, paint, tank etc... can you put the larger 19l tank off of the firestorm on to the Superhawk?

There are two bolt heads visible on the back of the headlight housing. One is on the right. The other is on the left. A 10 mm. wrench fits both. One controls vertical adjustment and the other controls horizontal adjustment. You can get at them without having to remove anything.
As Shayne points out, the 19 l. tank uses a frame mounted fuel tap. I assume that a bolt-on conversion from a 16 l. tank to a 19 l. tank would entail acquiring the fuel hoses to the carburettors, the hose from the tank to the fuel tap, mounting hardware for the fuel tap and another fuel tap in addition to a 19 l. tank. I haven't read of anyone doing the conversion but it's likely someone has. Honda Canada never stocked the 19 l. tank as far as I know.

Talking Comedo

Awesom Thnx I will give it a shot. YEah with in regards to the whole tank question, it was more of a curiosity thing I guess. It just sucks "knowing" that I can only make it about 90 - 110 miles per tank when I am riding with people that can go much further. I was actually going to look into getting the underside of the tank re worked to fit more but was unsure about the airbox and everythign else that is crammed up there.

Thanks again for the headlight help.

Unless you buy the Sargent seat from redline76, you won't want to ride more than 100 miles at a time.

And welcome to the forum.
