You guys are a bunch of souls lost in a space out of time, with you're attitudes and the kit you carry you would fit perfectly back in the day. Today's bikes don't have repairable failures on the road, tires ain't got no tubes, ignitions ain't got no points, clutch's ain't got no cables. Since putting on a good RR I don't even have electrical issues.

Repair kit? First aid stuff. And that was last used on a squid who misjudged his ability.

My sons TL died a month ago and a big older guy in Harley gear in a Silverado stopped to assist. Couldn't get it to go, so they threw it in the truck. Two minutes down the road the guy tells my son "you know this ain't a free ride". When the panic passed he offers some cash and a couple of beers. Turns out Larry the Lizard (Hells Angel) was a decent guy. $65 of gas in the truck and a couple cans of Bud for a 15 mile rescue. Hasn't even had all the bikes stolen from my sons garage!

Maybe I don't need to join the AMA, as long as I'm riding with my wife on her SV.

Standard kit from bike, small vice grips, patch kit......no CO2 or compressor....but a mini bike pump works wonders.

For a good bike pump just stop by a bike store and look for one that fits under your seat (tank bag in my case) and made sure it inflates on both strokes. I have a Blackburn "Air stick". Performance bikes may be a good place to look on-line.

I dunno... all the "new" bikes I've owned aside from the superhawk have been Cable clutches, even bikes that are a newer year model than my hawk. I still have nightmares from a ride home from the canyon on one of my old rides with a crescent wrench attatched to the broken piece of my clutch cable, suiciding it the 30 min ride home lol

That said, I don't do much touring on the superhawk, the wife likes the busa on the long hauls better. We used to tour on a Warrior that I had, used to pack everything including the kitchen sink in with that

I wanted to bump this thread, because I have been riding around unprepared for so long. Its important we take a minute to think about what we would do in the remote areas we ride. Esp. the mountains here in CO.

[quote=CentralCoaster;170863]I went to ride this morning and noticed my tire was nearly flat.

It got me thinking, if I was in the middle of nowhere that could be trouble. I think a small bicycle pump would be useful to have. Or maybe one of those CO2 cartridges for refilling the tire.

What else do you guys carry in the limited space you've got?
Water? Oil? Raincoat???

It seems like many of the tools in the tool kit would never get used on the side of the road. I mean, who needs to adjust spring preload anywhere but at home?[/quoteI
I carry the tool kit, tire guage, and extra spark plugs. If I had the room, Id carry much more.

I carry the stock tool kit and a CO2 kit from Cycle gear under the seat. I have a Cortect super-mini tank magnetic tank bag. In it is a knife, money, sun glasses, hat, ear plugs, an 8 oz bottle of water, a micro fiber cloth and some water for the face shield, ibuprophen, phone, camera. Have AAA and credit card.

cautious maintenance and pre-ride checks of the bike.
