Re: What did you guys get for your bikes for Christmas?

look what I found on UK VTR forum

"19ltr Tank will bolt straight on however you'll be needing the later models fuel tap, mounting bracket, and associated fuel hosing as its a different design on newer models.

You'll also need to file out the opening onthe front of the seat where it slides over the shock and thats about it."

That's consistnt with what I saw when tried 2004 tank on my 97 VTR.

80 Euros!! Damm!! That was very strategic from you to have not posted this link otherwise I will have bid also

And for the fuel tap and other "little" mods to perform, this is exactly what I've eared about, not a big deal but it's the fuel tap that can be a problem; because most of the used tank are sell without it!! But like we said, I will cross the bridge when I will be at the river... or something like this!!

Thus, enjoy your bigger tank for the next season lucky B.

Don't the Cancdian VTR1000F bikes come with the 19L tank?
I thought they were Firestorm's instead of Superhawks (but I could easily be wrong)
Inquiring minds want to know

Well let's see:
1) steering damper (from this forum)
2) fork brace (from Superbling, thanx)
3) read anodized levers
4) undertail (eBay)
5) mini-crash/fall protectors (eBay)
6) to be received: lightened flywheel (purchased on eBay, being machined and balanced by Roger at Revolution Racing in the UK)
7) to come: anodizing (red, blue or black) of fork brace and passenger peg brackets

A lovely mix of functional and aesthetic bits for my beloved VTR. Is it Spring yet? lol

Unfortunately not!! The only difference between the Canadian model and the US model of the VTR ( except the californa model of course ) it's only the name: Firestorm vs SuperHawk and some sticker. That was only some marketing consideration ( same as the RC51: VTR1000R for the Europe and RVT1000R in N-A )

So, like our south neighbors, the tank size of the VTR is still 16 liters since 1998 and have never changed.

When I knew that a bigger tank was available in Europe, I communicated with Honda Canada parts department and asked them to order me one right away! But they said they could not in regard of some environmental law and reglementations.. bullshit IMO. Bike's make pollution, with or without a bigger tank, this is a fact! ( On the other hand, I understand that changing the airbox size and/or operation could make more pollution!! ) But this is still nevertheless stupid, especially if the 19 liters tank could fit without making any mod to the airbox... but this is the story!!

And for some as me who were very happy to see on the Honda website a 19 liters tank spec since 2003, that was only a "cut and paste" error from Honda!!

Too bad...

Bling,
How about some pics of the hugger?
Also, is the preload adjuster on that Ohlins as useful as I've heard?
I've heard they don't change the preload much, just the ride height?

Me three :P I just did some searching on the ebay.uk.. but came up empty.

Though.. 19L is not that much more then what we have..
I'll take an extra 3 litres for sure. That should work out to another 25 miles or so.

I bought her new Carbon fiber (look) bar ends, how ever when they arrived the bolt was not the correct size, then I remembered that it has VFR bars....I guess those take a larger bolt....?? Not sure....Anyone know??
I now have to sets, both with the smaller bolt....
