I have my superhawk and it's modded out. I love it to death. But it is older, has required a lot of recent maintenance and well, I'd like something else that's fi and turn that one into a track *****. Anyways I happened to get a chance to ride a friend's f4i this weekend while I was visiting him for the weekend and well... I liked it a lot. He has a pipe and a few other minor mods but the sensation of the acceleration is completely different from the superhawk. I was short shifting the crap out of it too. The suspension was quite spongy compared to my aftermarket setup on mine which was expected but the bike in general was a lot small and I'm sure with a little work handles a lot nicer then mine. So... basically that settles it. I'm getting a 600. I had pondered maybe a 1000 but insurance would be too high and the 600 should be gobbs of fun. I think I'm gonna look at 05/06 600rr's and the 03/04 636 (side exhaust, I hate the newer undertail one)

LoL

Keep the Superhawk, get a small bike and learn to carry corner speed, and then get the 600.

I put my dues in with a 600 and I don't think Ill ever go back. Yeah, they are light, they soud kinda cool too cause your shifting a 13000 RPM but nothing beats the torque of a liter bike. My buddies f4i with a 52 tooth rear sproket for stunting wasn't HALF as torquey as my stock superchicken. Good luck though, and like the above said, make sure to keep the speeds through the turns.

i know a couple of guys with liter bikes, and 600s

they use the 600s for twisty rides, and the 1ks for every day riding.

most of us arent fortunate enough to be able to afford both. but get whatever suits your riding style.

like was said before, if you're on 2, you're still in the family

some of you seem to think I'm gonna sell my superhawk. it's not going anywhere. It's paid off and I'll never get what I want for it. I just want a 600 for FI, learn how to ride an i4 again (my first bike was a nighthawk 550 but that's not nearly the same as the new i4's), and well means my superhawk won't take quite as much abuse

nah. it just isn't worth it. $3500 which is probably the most I could get for it just isn't enough for what it means to me sentimentally as well as the fact that it works great and is in great condition still. I'd like to think I'll keep mine forever like hawkrider is doing

I thought about putting my hawk up for sale once and buy something else... I stopped at a local biker hang out and the harley guys were like hey, Nice bike. That thing a Vtwin? (back when I had pipes on it) I think my bike has become part of me. Ill keep it till I can't ride anymore thats for sure.

go for it! don't worry about changing bikes, I've been riding for 7 yrs and have owned 5 bikes, a 500 ninja,2 600's, a z1000, and now the superhawk. the superhawk is cool, but it's not quite the sharpest tool in the box. its got great torque, and is fun to wheelie, but it shows it weakness, especially if you ride hard, it can do it, but it comes up short if it's stock.

I used to have an 03 600rr, and it was a BAD AZZ bike. i suggest one of those as a track tool.

Man, I took a new Daytona 675 for a burn a couple of months ago and would have bought one then and there if someone would have given me the money. They sound way meaner than an i4 and there's actually some bottom end. First gear power wheelies, too. Even if you're after a cheaper used bike you should take one for a ride just to see for yourself. It's next in line if I ever get rid of the VTR. And like someone else said, I'd make the 600 the track machine, better handling and faster cornering= faster laps. Good luck with it all anyways.

Have you noticed that lot's of folks talk about 600's in the past tense. They are great bikes but you'll tire of them unless you live at the track. BTDT. IL4's suck.

My 2 centavos.

yeah but honestly I didn't even come close to running a 600 hard and honestly right now other then added torque that say a 1000rr would give me... I don't need or want the added 50whp that it'd have over the 600. Which I'll also add felt INCREDIBLY fast and I was only a little over 1/2 throttle probably. I'm not getting rid of the hawk but I need something new and reliable. The 1000 I'm just not nearly ready for yet as well as insurance would cost a small fortune being that I'm under 25 and well... I don't want a 1000 right now anymore. I'll get an 03/04 636 and if for some reason I find that boring I'll sell it when I'm 25 (2 years) for a 1000rr
