Weird tool in the kit

I am a new owner of a 98 VTR. I was looking thru the tool kit last night and found a strange item. It is a Allen wrench, but bent into the shape of a U, with one leg longer than the other.

What the heck is this for?

If in the Owners Manual my apologies, but I don't have a manual.

I think you are talking about the tool that holds up the rear of the gas tank, while you service the spark plug. Kind of like the prop that holds the hood up on your car. You put it in place of the rear bolt on the tank, and prop the tank up. Funny, I was just looking at that in my service manual last night.

That is for holding the rear of the gas tank up, i.e, when connecting the hoses to your pet ****.

Thank you very much. I have a service manual but have not read it yet. One less mystery in my life.

I leave the back bolt connected and prop up the front with a rubber mallet. Can get to everything that way, carbs and all.

Holds up the rear of the tank. I used it when I changed my plugs, which I recommend doing with at least 100 miles on the tank.

You can never own too many tools.

BeerHunter is an unknown quantity at this point
It is also good for removing the bolts that hold the plastics in place.
