WA state Hawk riders sound off.
I write up my riding....I race too so our sponsors like to see me doing SOMETHING for their money. It's not somethign that comes easily (or willingly for that matter - 2 weeks later, i've got ONE day of an 11 day trip written up and I'm a track day behind as well...ugh)
the website has been a total re-work. So I'm learning HTML as well -- would love feedback if you would care to leave it

Sounds good put the pics up when you get it done we all like to see someone else's ideas. There's one being done now the post is called progress pics I think.
Re: WA state Hawk riders sound off.
And she races, what a lucky guy your hubby is. I'm just luky to have a wife that allows me to ride, she's a truama nurse so she knows too much.
How long and what do you race? I just started doing track days with my hawk. my first one was in March and I'm absolutly addicted now. If it wasn't 6 hours to the track I would've been back about 30 times by now but only twice since. But I'm moving in a year and I'll have better roads and I'll have three tracks with in 3 hours and one only 45 mins away.

I'll try to read it but feedback is one of the hardest things. Ah well I'll try and I'll try to be as honest as possible. But when I took my writting classes that was hte hardest part of the whole thing.

where you moving to?
Re: WA state Hawk riders sound off.
Moving to north Fla. outside of the Gainsville area. I'll be 45min from Jennings gp in jennings fl. and there's road Atlanta and roebling in Ala. Then there's the smoky mountains about 5 hors away and the Dragon about 5 hours away. I really want to move to Cali but it's so damn expensive. The mind set just seems so much better on the west coast as far as motorcycles and people seem to be less stressed out.
California is excellent as far as motorcycles go - Seattle's probably better than FL but manohman, in CA, drivers move out of your way, there's lane sharing, you don't get hassled, it was excellent being down there. Here in Seattle, you're a target PERIOD. Watch out for them 'cause they don't see you. And right now, our state patrol is on Zero Tolerance for motorcycles because we're on par for the highest fatalities on motorcycles ever. They're really cracking down.
As far as roads go, it IS rather awesome, there's lots of back roads and roads through the state that are excellent, the scenery is tops, the weather is pretty good despite what you hear (yes, it rains a fair amount, but usually only sprinkles for part of the day - we never get downpours - well, rarely)

Re: WA state Hawk riders sound off.
We are in the rainy season right now, it sucks. We have a sub-tropical climate which means almost daily down pours with the most lightning strikes in the world! Oh and it's also hurricane season and don't get me started on the old people. They claim they don't see you but I swear they're aiming for us. I wonder what's going on with fatalaties we're on pace to breack the record down here this year as well. That's one of the reasons I'm lucky to ride at all my wife watches them come in left and right. It almost makes me want to just ride on the track and quit the road.
Re: WA state Hawk riders sound off.
No, since we had our kids almost four years ago she's only been on my bike once. We went on our honeymoon on the west coast from Reno to Malibu and back. I took her on snowmobiles in the Seirra's for the first time in her life,(she's lived in Fla. since she was 4) and we rode atvs on the dunes in Pismo she had a blast until the throttle jammed on the brand new four wheeler we rented. She wanted me to teach her but since we had the kids she's afraid we'll both die and leave them witout parents.
But she's been trying to get me to move to a northeren state so she can ride snowmobiles. I lived in Connecticut for 19 years so that isn't happening any time soon, I can't stand cold weather.

Re: WA state Hawk riders sound off.
You've got to be kidding right, my idea of cold is about 50.
My wife loves that area though, she's got an uncle in San Fran. and they went up there together alot. So you would have her on your side but I think it gets to cold up there.
Re: WA state Hawk riders sound off.
Now that sounds like a deal, I would love to do that! Espeacially with some people that know the best roads in the area. A trip down the coast sounds good to me.
If you ever travel east I'd love to show you the Dragon and some other surounding roads. There's some sweet *** roads in the Smoky's and the Blueridge Parkway.
I'm sure you must of heard of the Dragon's 318 curves in 11 miles. There's also some not so tech. roads around with nice 90mph sweepers.
Re: WA state Hawk riders sound off.
Used to live up in Wa...Marysville....while stationed on my last ship in Everett. Nothing like takeing a spring ride on bare roads with 8' snow banks !
July 5th '03 had a nice run in with one of the local cops on the 20...72 in a 55. Said" To nice of a day to write tickets.....slow it down." 8)

Re: WA state Hawk riders sound off.
It can gets crowded at times but if you go when everybody is at work it's clear as a bell. There are no cross roads or driveways on the road at all so you don't have to worry about that. The only true concerns are stupid truckers who sometimes don't heed the warnings and take the road anyway. Their front will be around one part of the corner while the back end is still on the other. Luckily that doesn't happen a lot. The other thing is to remember to keep your head on the right side of the yellow stripe.
The people up there really cater to the biker's because they get thier money from us. The slower riders even move over to let the faster ones go through. There are also about 100 other roads in the same area that aren't as well known that are a blast as well. If you like water falls you can spend days riding beautiful roads to nice hicking trails to beatiful waterfalls. Goodtimes, yeah goodtimes.

Re: WA state Hawk riders sound off.
I haven't checked the forum lately so I'm a little behind responding to this one. I'm in Snohomish and have '98 Hawk. The wife has a '92 CBR600. Maybe we could all hookup for a three pass blast some day?

Re: WA state Hawk riders sound off.
I'll put in a "definite maybe" for the 17/18 sept weekend. Work is somewhat lining up another trip down to Monterey/Bay Area again for something on the 24th so may have to be down there for other meetings the week before. Hope you guys don't mind having an interloper on an XX following you around. I promise not to get in your way on the straight bits :P I have lots of parts for a VTR, they just haven't assembled themselves into a running bike yet!
Re: WA state Hawk riders sound off.
Just wanted to get the word out that I still plan on doing this Saturday Sept. 17th. My suggested plan is to head over Hwy2 and stop in Leavenworth, then catch Hwy97 over to Cle Elum for another stop, then head back to Monroe via I90 to Fall City and then 203 North. Let me know what you think and if meeting in Snohomish at the Java Inn is a good spot to start.
My daughter's soccer schedule just came out - I'm freaking booked until the demon child is 18 it appears!! She's got a game every saturday from now until Christmas - plus a tournament. I'm out - sorry guys....I'll keep my eyes open for meet up time/place and route and maybe I can come on part of it....there's still hope, right?
Re: WA state Hawk riders sound off.
Hey everyone sorry but it looks like I will have to be working this Saturday so I'm out. The weather looks like it's going to be nice too. Watch out for those falling rocks on I-90!
