WA state Hawk riders sound off.

Just wanted to see who here is from my hood. I see a few Hawks running around the Seattle area and was wondering how many hang out in here.

Myself and some other twin riders are trying to put together a V-twin ride sometime this summer, so you all are welcome to join in the fun. Let's go set off some car alarms  .

I'm always down for some riding also, so shoot me an e-mail if you need a wingman nineighthawk@gmail.com.

Later, Dave

Yo Dave~

Mill Creek checking in. Soon as I get the beast up and running again I'll give you a shout. Parts due to arrive soon (go Cyclebarn), and then just a check out. Hope we get a break in the weather soon, got plenty of miles to catch up on. Oh have you done the Mt. St. Helens ride? I hear the newer road out there is wicked~

Peace
T

Capitol Hill ride junkie reporting in. Love to go on a ride, but I'd have to do it on an I-4 for now. The twin is in a million pieces slowly being reassembled.

I'm busy annoying my neighbors here in the deepest, darkest Burbclave of Beaux Arts.

Still learning how to turn properly and am not yet ready to ride with others, but I'd love to see and hear another SH, to see how wonky mine is.

Do you still have your Hawk?

If so, what are you gonna do with it?
Mine has almost 50K on it and I'm starting to look for a replacement motor. It still runs pretty strong and I take great care of it, but I'm always looking for some good parts.
GL with your search for an R1, they are pretty sweet.

Dave.

Good to see that there are at least a few local SH riders. I love my bike, and I'm sure you all do too. They are a rare breed.
Here is a link to a local site that is great for hooking up with some local rides. Lots of good peeps on here and a few idiots (take the good with the bad).

Also check out the NSR page, it's a very active forum. http://www.cycleforums.com/forums/fo...s=&forumid=185

Newbie down it Tacoma. I take my MSF course in 5 days. Superhawk is in garage waiting to be rode. I'll need some practice time, but if you can deal with a newbie, I'll be there.

In responce... My SH is dead. Though my insurance will sell it back to me for $1500, jeez thats alot! but the motor had under 3k if intrested I can get you the bike...

nineighthawk 07-04-2005 06:37 PM

Re: WA state Hawk riders sound off.

$1500?... That is kinda high. Although an e-bay auction might make that back and then some.

When do you have to tell the Ins. Co. you want to buy it back?
I really could use a parts bike.

Howdy from Poulsbo,
I work in West Seattle and commute there a couple days a week. I use my '98 SH with 21000 miles on the clock as my main source of commuter bliss. Let me know when you go for a ride. My twin Borther Troy has a '98 SH in T-town (Tacoma) and a great friend from Silverdale has a black '99 SH. I am just putting on fresh change of sprockets and chain (520 conversion) as I write. Just have to wrap it up tomorrow, and just bought a jet kit (Factory) to be installed soon.
LETS RIDE !!!
Todd in Poulsbo
I work @ Engine 29 in the SFD.....

Davey 08-05-2005 07:35 AM

Dave in Bremerton. Newbie SH rider with only a few thousand miles. Good fun.

nineighthawk 08-05-2005 05:17 PM

Welcome Dave..

I too am a Dave :)

All of us should meet up and ride one of these days.
I would love to hear a pack of hawks rolling down the street. It would be sooo sweet :)

LauraLynne 08-06-2005 12:22 AM

Laura in Everett here - just got my Hawk a month ago, already put over 4500 miles on it (cheated a little - took it on my trip to Laguna).

Looking for others to ride with - someone set it up and I'll be there (long as you don't mind riding with a chick)

nineighthawk 08-06-2005 01:53 PM

Hi Laura, are you the Laura from NSR?

I'm sure you are :) Anyway, welcome to the SH forum.

LauraLynne 08-06-2005 01:57 PM

that's Me! Thanks for the welcome - sure aren't many people who are active on this forum - what's up with that?

Re: WA state Hawk riders sound off.

Hey Laura welcome, I don't mind riding with chicks but the feathers tend to get in my mouth. Sorry bad joke. We don't have a lot of ladies on here but it's always nice to get another perspective. I personally would love to ride with you but I'm as far from you as I possibly could be and still be in the U.S.

nineighthawk 08-06-2005 09:55 PM

Ya Laura, this forum is kinda slow. Nothing like cycleforums, we are kinda spoiled in that respect.

Although there is alot of good info. here if you happen to have an issue with your SH.

Everyone here I have talked to has been pretty cool and very helpful.

Re: WA state Hawk riders sound off.

Sounds goos I've always wanted to do a cross country trip. Just would have to stop every 100 miles, I,ve got a twitchy throttle hand.

LauraLynne 08-06-2005 10:34 PM

s'ok - I can only go 135 on a tank anyway - my first ride on the new bike was 550 miles in one day ...

superhawk22 08-06-2005 10:37 PM

Re: WA state Hawk riders sound off.

Not too shabby, did you get an aftermarket seat the stock one will give you sores after that long. Oh and I see your a bit of a night owl like myself, your first post 3:24. Oh that's right three hour difference duh.

LauraLynne 08-06-2005 10:39 PM

nope - stock seat - my butt is custom padded LOL

only mod to my bike is the twobrother's it came with. I carried a tail bag and a tank bag and we went a total of 3500 miles or so down from Seattle to Laguna Seca for MotoGP. I was one of the most comfortable ones on the trip - 4 of us, '90 FZR600 (friend), '02 RC51 (hubby), '03 Duc 998. Mine got the worst gas mileage (well, the RC's pretty close) but I was definatly the most comfortable. My hands would go numb for about the first 100 miles of the day and then they were just fine the rest of the day, once I got in a groove I guess

Re: WA state Hawk riders sound off.

Must of been a hell of a ride, those roads just make me drool. All we have in s.Florida is grid roads straight, and flat. I go miles out of my way just to hit a road with 3 or 4 consectutive corners. The race was awesome to boot I'm extremely jealous right now!!! :(

LauraLynne 08-06-2005 10:47 PM

we stayed OFF the high way - it was all backroads and twisties - nat'l parks, gorgeous scenery the whole way - I've got photos and I"m in the process of writing the story and getting it posted.... www.pappawheelies.com under MotoGP trio - day 1 so far *blush* I'm a little behind - we've been finishing our garage....

superhawk22 08-06-2005 10:50 PM

Re: WA state Hawk riders sound off.

Oh and if you look on ebay you'll usually find a decent deal on a good seat,(corbin or sargent) it really does make a huge difference. Then again if rode all that way and didn't have an issue you might want to spend the money on something else. Be careful with the mods though it gets addictive.

LauraLynne 08-06-2005 10:51 PM

I've got a guy who does custom seats right here in my backyard - and he owes me a favor or 2 as well. But I didn't have an issue with the stock seat so it'll stay, for now. The ugly stock undertail is my FIRST priority....YUCK!! I found the one I want though so $250 later....and next up a paint job, stock red is purty but I found a paint scheme I love even more...

8) You do some writting as well, I dabble a little as well. I'm in the long process of doing a story about riding the dragon on Tenn. Nc. border.
