VTR's rarely seen In my parts
Seems when I'm traveling around my area (within 500-1000 km's) of my place ,do I ever see another VTR or anyone that knows about them.I did finally meet a couple older CBX owners that had nothing but good things to say about our bikes.I had the opportunity today of chasing down a 2009 GSXR 750 and when we met at a ferry crossing ,He asked," what the hell are you riding".I believe that we are riding one of the best street bikes ever built!and I'm happy to own one!!

I'm down stateside in Missouri, but the VTR is a "rare" bike around here as well. Honestly, the bike just wasn't overly popular when it was new, at least down here in my parts. It seems that when it comes to motorcycles, people like to conform to the "norm"...When people think of sport bikes, the immediately say GSXR or Gixxer, Ninja, or CBR and that's about it...if folks don't really know about bikes and you say you own a Honda VTX1300, they normally say "Ah, one of those crotch rockets?" I don't know how many people said that about my Magna..but more than I could count, until they saw the bike, and it's cruiser stance/styling.
People seem to think, Fast bike = 4 cylinder, cruisers = V-twins...the line is muddied a little bit by older Buell's and especially by Ducati, but this bike essentially was created in and lived in Ducati's shadow. It's a fantastic road bike (could just use smaller carbs, and a bigger tank) but either way, it's a wonderful machine to ride! I love mine, and have noticed people coming over to see it when she's parked at work, the park, etc...feels good to be different.

Fairly uncommon in these parts too. Frankly I've seen more on Craigslist than I've seen on the street, and that is not many.
That's cool with me, I always seem to want something a little different than what's most popular. My wife says I am a retro-grouch, whatever that is.

Not very many here on the east coast either. I wonder if 20 years from now, they will be a collector bike like the old triple cylinder 2 strokes. Most don't have a clue about these bikes including myself before I bought mine. Glad I found out about them though. Tim

I think it's safe to say, this is pretty much everyones reality. I enjoy being at a stop light, and having people in their cars/bikes look at mine. You can just read in their minds they don't have a clue what they're looking at. They are used to looking at a sports bike and have an exhaust sound that is typical to an L4 and not a twin.

I absolutely love my 2000 VTR1000F! I have Vance & Hines exhaust, K&N filter, & jetted the carbs . My bike sounds more like a Harley then any knockoff cruiser I have seen. Super fun bike to ride. South Florida. I also see none on the road & the ones I see locally on CL all have low mileage. I have no problem with the smaller tank as I like to take regular breaks & do not plan on crossing Texas anytime soon.

I could not agree more. I have several other bikes - some newer/cooler/faster - but I still ride the VTR the most. In fact, I get it on it almost every single day. I only ride the other bikes maybe once a month total between all of them. At times I wonder why I even own them at all.

I can't agree more, I had never heard about them before I bought mine. I was on CL in class looking for a bike and skipped right over it due to it being a liter bike. A buddy said to try the VTR, went for a test ride and loved it, now I come to find out it is a amazing bike. Seems in gerneral it is a unknown bike to the masses, and nothing but a favorite to those who own one. Man am I gald that CBR F4 deal fell through. There is one around town I still need to flag down and just say Hi too.

VTR never really caught on in NA as it doesn't really appeal to the posers ("love the chrome on your FXLHGWFRE....."), spec sheet specialists (" fastest quarter-mile on the market"), or squids (Gixxers, R6,...... 'nuff said). Instead, it's somewhat of a sleeper bike for true, seasoned enthusiasts (of which there aren't that many in NA, most "motorcyclists" (and I use the term loosely) falling overwhelmingly into category 1, distantly followed by no. 3).......
