VTR1000F vs CBR1000RR

VTR1000F vs CBR1000RR
Ok, quick question. A friend of mine works at an airport, and we are allowed to run cars/bikes down the runway when the airport is closed. It is about 1 mile and 300 feet, or so.
I got my bike ready to go after replacing the mechanical seal and raced a CBR1000RR
Heres the thing. My carbs need to be cleaned, but the bike runs great!
Anyway, I raced him from 60 to about 120-130ish, my VTR kept up with the CBR without much problem. I wasnt giving full throttle, and wasnt shifting optimally.. But are the vtr 1000s supposed to be on par with a newer 1000rr?
EDIT: Or is it because the V-Twin has so much powerband to use, while the cbr has to wait until higher rpms?

Actually, if you kept up with him from 60 to 120... Are you perhaps a bit smaller/lighter? The CBR should win that... Not win big, but it should win... And from 120 to 150 the CBR should walk all over the VTR.... And then when the VTR hit's it's cieling, the CBR keeps going for a while yet...

Thats what I was thinking lol... I wasnt even opening full up because I am still getting used to everything on the SH.
I kept up, he was pulling away from me, not super quick like you would think, but slowly pulling away...
And yeah, I am a bit lighter, yay Crohn's! He is a big black guy with a lot of muscle.
His bike is lowered, and lengthened quite a bit.
Mine just has two bros exhaust lol.

Well... No matter what the ladies might tell you, size does matter for some activities...
Nah, seriosly... I think it was in response to my question above, and the reason for that is simple... Big guy vs small guy on equal machines the small guy wins the dragrace... The riders weight and aero is a very large part of a bikes actual performance...
I don't think the color actually matters much in either scenario though...

Not to argue with the more experience- Yet- Reading this and doing the math- (stock S-hawk, 100 hps)(CBR1000rr est. 120-162) after a search of CBRs. and odd is that both bikes weight pretty close. I still that the S-hawk would get smacked..
And to support Tweety theory-

The VTR will match it pretty well in initial squirt off the corner, but the CBR can run away at will, without even breathing hard in a straight line.
Here's a chart of the 1000RR vs. RC51:

The RC51 would give the CBR harder time, but look at that i4 torque curve. After ~5200 rpm is always above the RC51! If it gets a good start, the CBR would barely fall behind the twin, then pass it and never see it again.

My 929 will eat my Hawk, two different beasts. 20 hp difference, and with the Fireblade, your weight is over the front end a little more which tends to counteract wheelies, it is a bit harder to keep the front end down on the Superhawk.
After about 120mph the blade eats the VTR.
BTW, Hooray for Crohns!!!

I said big and black, because the only big and white guy I have ever seen is Arnold Schwarzenegger. But, I see a lot more Huge (extremely muscular) black guys. And you are right, the color doesnt matter, it was a description of the person though.
I live in SC. But of course you cant get into the airport without a key to the gate!

I would be willing to ride to SC from, off the Mountain here in NC. with the "BLACK" RC-51 to conclude the question of the CBR vs. RC-51 . You bring the key to the gate and your friend(the BIG, BLACK guy)on his stretched CBR and we will go best of three, as to make sure there is no doubt.- still say it is a waste of tires to ride in a straight line....

Nah, definitely am not a fan of crohn's... Sarcasm up there.
I have tried several types of prescribed medication from my doctor to try to ease the pain and all.. but everything ended up making me feel even worse without helping the original symptoms.. They tried giving me .. cant remember the name but it made me nauseous for 2 days on top of everything else....

Ok... How about I show you why it's much funnier to play with 929's than 1000's...
The pink line is my actual bike in stock form... The blue line is my actual bike as it is today...
The others are interpolated data from the CBR's... Less accurate, no decimals just yanked from the net, but they show a pretty consistant picture... Keep in mind my bike is also considerably lighter than stock and has more forward weight bias...
The 929 will get me in the end, but it's not a runaway victory and it need a loooong straight to do soo...
The 954 is less fun to play with, I beat them coming of corners, but they just keep sailing past me on the straights...
The 1000's are the defenition of buzzkill... They just sit on my *** out of the corners, and as soon as I'm in full tuck they just go past me and keep gaining like a runaway freight train... Definetly no fun at all... Pesky little critters... Keep in mind, this is the 04-05, the later ones are even less fun...

No curves, I haven't bothered to graph them yet, but peak 100 Nm @7250... And it's big, fat and wide...
