VTR Vs Schwinn

So my bike is parked along the side of the building I work in, and my stand started to sink in the tar so I moved it into the shade behind a co-worker's Schwinn and somehow the tar pulled it down and took out the Schwinn with it. It only hit the back tire. I didn't get to see it, one of my co-workers picked it up for me and told me.

Bent my clutch lever and scuffed my new metal grips and of course broke the blinker open, which is no big deal since I've fixed it 2-3 times before.

I am in need of a Left Fairing. Black preferably.

Anyways, after I come back inside and I'm in search of replacement parts, the owner of the Schwinn comes over and says, "Why'd you park your bike there? That isn't no $200 Schwinn ya know."

I didn't say anything. I was already mad about my bike. I just can't believe he had the urge to say anything since his bike costs a fraction of mine and mine is hurt much worse. Needless to say, his bike looked fine.

But if someone has a fairing, please PM me. I'm capable of purchasing through Paypal.

Dude, I hate to tell you this, but a lot of bicycles, road and mountain, are worth more and cost more that any VTR is worth. Have you been in an actual bike shop lately and checked out the beautiful carbon fiber frames, $500 Shimano cranks and $400 derailleurs? A nice Mavic wheelset could set you back a grand or two. Your just getting into the nice bikes at about $3000 and moving up to high-end at $5000.

Just sayin'.

I know you're just saying, but my plastic fairing that is now broken is worth more than 3 of these Schwinns. Not to mention, Schwinns aren't made anymore. This wasn't some track bicycle.

Yes I have seen those. Pretty sweet. I know a kid who races for Western Michigan University where I go to school. His bike cost him $5000.

I suggest you get a foot pad for your side stand then go make the Schwinn guy happy. You can get a flat piece of .040 aluminum at Home Depot and cut about a 6 inch square piece.

Sometimes you just have to look the guy in the eyes....all the while thinking about what you would like to say. Then just smile.

Hmmm... I think the issue is that your motorcycle possibly damaged someone elses property.
I have an $800 Schwinn, all Shimano 105, carbon forks & stays and Gipiemme wheels. Its better than a similarly priced Trek and you don't buy it in Walmart. I would have a problem if your Shawk fell on my bike too...

whether it's a lawn gnome or a lexus, if you parked your bike next to my property and it fell I'd probably give you a parking tip so next time your bike nor another's property aren't harmed. I wouldn't be a jerk about it though, and naturally would expect you to cover damages if applicable.

My brother has warned me a couple times about having a stand plate (he has a nice 4"x4" diamond plate steel piece he keeps in the tank bag) just for those occasions when you can't find solid ground.

Very sorry to hear about your bike. stuff happens

i had a stand plate i used once and lost, turns out the storage under the seat of my gixxer has some air holes that breathe a little too well for the electronics and it fell through there, lol

Your bike broke someone elses stuff. It sucks that our bike is broken, but imagine if some dudes Ferrari rolled into your bike because his parking brake failed. His car is worth 50 times your bike, but you'd still be pissed because someone else broke your stuff, and you'd still expect him to pay for it right? Buy the guy a craigs list bicycle similat to his for $30 and shut him up, fix your bike, and move on with life.

**** happens!

I've come back to the bike to find it almost tipped over and realized early on that the small contact patch area of a side stand will not support a bike on hot asphalt or loose gravel. I use a round plastic disk so when I park the bike and the surface is questionable, it is readily available to be used.
If this happened to me, I would have kicked myself in the **** for being so stupid then found the owner of the bike to make amends. End of story.
