Re: Tires again....

208s for me. I'm happy with them, overall, and I'll most likely be "sticking" with them in the future. They DO take a bit to warm up, however- I've had a couple of impressive "rolling burnouts" that were supposed to be wheelies. Of course, that could most likely be chalked up to "rider error." I'm just lucky I haven't broken my neck yet.

I don't have any chicken strips, and I corner them pretty hard on a regular basis. The hawk's limitations come way before the tires', IMO.....

Re: Tires again....

I run Dunlop 208 GP-A's at the track and Michellin Pilot Sports (now Race) on the street.

I used to run Dunlop D207RR's, they held up great. Took a little to warm them up but they stick like glue once they are warm.

Have since switched to the D208RR's (since Dunlop isn't making the 207's any more.

I only have about 150 miles on them so far, but they seem to be right on par with the 207RR's.

I have also heard only good things about Diablos here from experienced riders who have them on their gixer 1000.

I just got dunlop 208 and like them, but will see how wear goes.

Re: Tires again....

I've had D208's on for about 3000 miles and like them. The rear will need replacement in 500 - 750 mi but the front looks fine. I may try the Avon SP/ST combo next time around though - or the Pilot-Power...

Re: Tires again....

Pirelli Diablo, and they rock--offer much better mileage and slightly better performance than the D-208s that I once preferred.

cheers,

Re: Tires again....

I have the Bridgestone BT10's or they're called something like that. I've only put about 4k on my bike since I got it and never felt the tires slip (thank god) other than some understeer cranking around a sharp corner with the tires still cold.

Other than going to a track or REALLY pushing the bike, how do you guys know when the tires are breaking loose without actually breaking them loose, and if you are skidding them around corners.....good god!

Brand new BT-014s as of yesterday.
Had Dunlop D204s on previously, wasn't impressed.

Sportec M1's here. Went 7000 miles on the stock 204's, but I doubt the sportec's will go 1/2 that. after a hair under 1k miles, I already see a flat spot developing on the rear. I guess I need to go do a track day to get the sides wearing as fast as the center...

Ok, here is an update:

after about 3600 miles of riding the bike, my 208ZR's are down to the wear markers. I can probably get another 400 miles or so if I pushed it, but I don't screw around with tires.

I am going to put Avon 45/46 ST on the bike now, as I have only heard great things from others who have them. I will provide an update later on.
