Tip for tripping signals at intersections.
Your wheels are aluminum, so they will not trigger the loop sensors. You need to use steel/iron (or a magnet) to alter the electric field in the loop. That's why they say use the kickstand.
The fields are most sensative 6"-12" either fore or aft of the wire, and least sensative over/ON the wire itself. So try to put your kickstand 6" before/after the wire, not ON it.

A good friend of mine got a ticket 20 some years ago after waiting through 3 cycles then turning left against the red. The cop told him he should have "BACKED out of the left turn lane, then proceeded straight". Can you believe that?
As far as I know, that advice would have gotten him at least 3 other tickets....as backing up in a lane is ticketable offense, Crossing the solid white line to change lanes within 50' of an intersection is a ticketable offense, and going "straight" from a turn lane (left or right) is a ticketable offense....WTF???? I would sure go to court on that one, and HOPE the cop showed up.....
If I recall he just went to traffic school rather than take a day off work. Obviously wasn't a motorcycle cop.
But yeah, he told me "so I'm supposed to back up 30' on a motorcycle with no reverse" (he wasn't on a Gold Wing)...and I forgot, it was nighttime with no traffic.
Some cops just won't cut a motorcyclist a break.

Do not need them in TN, They passed a law a couple of years ago that allows Motorcycles to run a red light legally after stopping and waiting for a resonable time. Typically a normal cycle period of the light.
All we have to do is wait a bit, and check traffic, when plenty clear we can just go ahead and proceed as if a green light as long as the traffic is clear.

Yep, sometimes the law is on the motorcyclist side
The law allows motorcycles to "run" a red light in TN after stopping.
T.C.A. 55-8-110

.(b) Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, the driver of a motorcycle approaching an intersection that is controlled by a traffic-control signal utilizing a vehicle detection device that is inoperative due to the size of the motorcycle shall come to a full and complete stop at the intersection and, after exercising due care as provided by law, may proceed with due caution when it is safe to do so. It is not a defense to a violation of § 55-8-109 that the driver of a motorcycle proceeded under the belief that a traffic-control signal utilized a vehicle detection device or was inoperative due to the size of the motorcycle when such signal did not utilize a vehicle detection device or that any such device was not in fact inoperative due to the size of the motorcycle.
