Very nice looking bike! Love the colors & headlight cover is cool.
Reminds me of a starwars bot

Starting on my own build soon, have this radiator mod in mind also.
If I have more questions, will know where to find ya!
Thanks for your info.

Revelation if you have any radiator questions, I'd be glad to help out.

Been playing a little with vinyl lately, the more I play, the more I'm interested in the stuff.

Somewhat poor pics, as I'm still deciding how much I like the bike like this.

I like the personalized "flare" by the gas cap, that's cool! The wing looks good too, but I'd leave it off, your bike is so perfect the way it is. I think you need a new project, time to buy a basket case!

Yes nice details

Ehmmm yes do need some advice here and there!

Would you happen to know whether the thermostat-housing-top can be mounted backwards?
If it points backwards, this saves me a lot of hassle with the hoses

Have bought a set of R6 fans from ebay.

Thinking that I could have them go "half speed" and "full speed" if it is getting hot. No idea how to wire this yet.. but will get there.
How is your cooling? Temp ok?

What kind of battery do you have?
I think I might need a gel battery or something smaller.

Ehhh can i send you an email?

1) I know that at least three of us with the undertail radiator have mounted the thermostat housing backwards... so "yes" on that one.

2) How are you mounting your fans? Are they underneath or on top? I'm pretty sure that R6 fans are designed to be "puller" fans, so if you try to mount them as "pusher" fans you won't get enough airflow. Puller fans are more efficient from what I've read, so if you have them both on the bottom of your radiator, this may be the best setup.

3) I actually made a battery out of a DeWalt lithium-ion 28V battery... re-configured it to be a 14V and it has been working great. This is the A123 cell battery that a couple of members showed me how to make... it's in my signature. You can also buy a smaller one like you said... mine's similar to a Turn Tech battery.

4) I have my fans wired to both kick on at 85* C (stock kick on at 100* C) so that I can get airflow on earlier. kai ju has his system running so that one fan kicks on at stock temp and one kicks on later. I'm in Arizona, so figured that I'd have the fans running pretty often, so I could get as much cooling as possible. So far they have been running hotter than stock, but not dangerously hot. I think overheating, gauges flashing is at about 270* F, and mine have never gone above 235*. I do have a very restricted mesh in my tail piece, and have a feeling if I get a freer flowing one that it will run even cooler. This temp, remember, is Arizona summer... so we're talking easily 100* F+ ambient temperature.

I'll send you a PM with my e-mail...

1) ok thanks that will work out

2) Will be top mount, out of sight.
Jep... allready found out that r6 was puller.
Bought it from ebay, wrong bet.
But it needed just small adjustment to fit the propellor upside down.
So it is pushing now anyway. Will be ok.

3) Will read all this some time
Will try to fit a stock one first, but the tuono seems to have a smaller battery than a vtr? Battery tray seems more narrow.

4) I have bought a VTX rad of crashrat.
Seems to fit like a charm.. fingers crossed.
There is a sensor in this one, but don't know when it kicks in.
We will find out...

See some progress here:

On the side of your sensor there is a number... it's almost surely 100... which means that it kicks on at 100*C. I had to order a sensor for a car... nissan I think... that kicked on earlier. I'll find that later for you; there are sensors with the same thread sizes that can be put into our radiators.

I'm not too sure how well the fans will work... puller blades and pusher blades have a different profile shape to them, and so neither work out best in the other applications. That being said, you can try it and see how it goes!

You don't have to make a battery... I did to save some $, but it'll end up being the same size as one of these:

5.0Ah TurnTech Battery
ShoraiUsa - VTR1000F (all)

There are a couple other things to keep track of when you're mounting everything. Make sure you have enough clearance for the radiator when your suspension travels. If you are using the VTX rad, it will fit perfectly into our subframes, so no worries there.

You will probably want to have an air release of some sort so that you can fill the radiator completely. kai ju and I both used metal shrader valves so that we could bleed off the air as we filled the rads. The reason for this is because of the hook loop in the back of the radiator, all of the air can't escape from the filler cap. Here's how mine looks:
Name: P4040056.jpg

I've had zero issues with it leaking. I ended up tying a string to that hole that I drilled, and then drilling a hole in the rad and feeding it through the filler cap (and pulling with the string) to get it in there. Let me know if this makes sense.

Hi 7moore7,
I finally opened a topic...

https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...64/#post321573

As said I am going for the radiator mod as well.
Fitted 2 R6 fans, seems to work ok. Have a solution for the 2 fans;
I will have them running serial (50%) continously and use switch to go to paralel (100%).

Rev nice bike. That tail is awesome. May want to start looking for places to hack some vents into it if you run into overheating problems!

I put more color on and in my bike to make it go faster. Wanted to put this in this thread to keep it all together.

This I got from the thread, "I put a window on my motorcycle" or something along those lines. My camera is from the 20th century, so it' doesn't have sound on it's video, but here's how it looks:

Size: 61.3 KB

And hopefully the video loads:

Note the powdercoated stock to manual CCT conversion . Which means I may have some used APE's to sell here soon...

Edit: also, you can seem me pulling the clutch... way cool in person.

'Cause the thread starts pretty slow... a lot of trial and error and me figuring things out!

On another note, the clutch window hasn't leaked or caused any problems, and is self cleaned by the motor oil! By far one of the most noticeable/commented on things I've done... aside from the headlight

At it again... way back in the thread there's a part where I show a broken sub-frame. It was JB-welded, thought I could make it last, it finally went bust. So I bought a new one and had it powdercoated and am messing around with the front end again.

The "alien" look was fun, but figured I'd try something else for a bit. Putting two pusher fans in so there is no fan exposed on the bottom and the CF exhaust is VERY soft in a couple of spots so I've taken it apart to see what I can do about that. Note to others... if you buy CF exhaust used, make sure you check the packing. Mine had blown through and may have ruined my sleeves if I can't figure out a way to salvage them.
