I am interested in buying a superhawk. There is one for sale near me but its got 20k miles on it. That seems like allot to me. The bike looks to be well taken care of but the mileage is a concern. From current owners how many miles is to many miles?

 

20k is just getting broken in.

 

I'm at about 20k. I consider mine low mileage. these bikes can go well over 50k easy and with proper maintenance could do far better. I owned a Kawi that I put about 60k on before I sold it and have another sport tourer now that is an 05 with 25k and growing by about 9k a year.

Mine has about 30K on it and it has no problems, the engine is not an issue on these bikes. If you change the CCTs to avoid valve and piston interaction then, with routine maintainence, these bikes will run forever. Bikes come and go in my garage but the Hawk is the only one that always has a spot.

 

I just sold my '02 with 43,000 miles.
Didn't burn or leak oil, never even had to adjust the valves even though I checked them every 10,000 miles.
Take care of regular maintenance and modern engines will take care of you.

 

I ride with a older rider , who has a 1998 superhawk- bike has 72k on the clicker...
+1 on the maintance.. He also has a 2000 VFR that has 74k on that clicker... Both are all stock...
