Stock exhaust difference
What material are the stock exhausts made from? When looking at various SH on the web, it looks like some are rusty and black while others have a bronze hue to them. Mine has the brown hue to it. I assumed it was stainless. Ive ran some steel wool on it and it polishes up decently.
Just wondering cause it looks like some exhausts hold up better than others. Ive exposed mine to all elements for a while and its never had a rusty look to it. Just wondering what the deal is?
I dont think I have a full kit, as I have slip on Jardines with chrome pipes.

The stock headers are stainless... If you just leave them alone and never clean them, they do look "rusty", as in dark brown and stained from road debris, but they are just fine as they are...
If you clean them with wool, they will stain a nice golden hue, and that's easy to clean and maintain if you do it somewhat regularly...

If you really want to be OCD you can wetsand them mirror smooth. From the factory they're not perfectly smooth. I've done the stock header before and while it will turned golden it's like a "gold chrome" and is very easy to keep clean after that by hand polishing from time to time with some mothers.
