Still no active topics?

Anybody know what the difference is between "Active Topics" and the "New Posts" button? I've mentioned this before, but why don't you guys don't just click that button? It gives you a list of threads that have new posts since your last visit. Lately, it hasn't been a very long list if you visit daily.

I'm thinking it hasn't been a long list lately because the forum navigation has changed for the worse... Just an opinion, may not be correct.
New posts is okay, but not the same as it used to be by clicking the icon in the upper left.
People don't like change, especially when something isn't broken

I can only see "today's posts". Active topics is a much wider scope of the goings on of the brotherhood.
All the other forums I am on has it.
This way lessens overall info sharing (IMHO). What happened, someone tirp over a power cord and knock it out?
Cant we form a blue ribbon committee of top guys to fix it? Can we weld on a new one? Machine one out of billet? Carbon fiber?
Whassup?

Need to send Greg and email, it's the best way to contact him. This is a software issue and I can not get any support elsewhere. He's the only person that can get it fixed.
Just to clarify... clicking on the upper left forum logo used to be a hot link to active topics. Now it's just a link to the forum itself, We are just left with a link to today's posts, which isn't the same.
That is the only thing that has changed. Navigation otherwise is exactly the same, at least it is for me on multiple computers in multiple locations.

I have to agree it is not the same as it used to be, even with "Today's Post's" made available. The web page used to open to "recent posts" like clicking on the Upper left link instead of opening to a list of topics to choose from. I second and third a fix if one can be made available....
Thanks

I just don't understand this quandary. I guess I am looking at a mobile site, since I am on an iPad? I have a "New Posts" button. You will see all the new posts since YOUR last visit. None of you guys see this?
I honestly don't know what the fuss is about. From what I have read in other threads on this topic, you guys used to have a large button (upper left hand corner, which I never even knew existed. I just thought it was a banner. How the heck did any of you figure this out? Just start clicking randomly all over the screen until something happened?), but now you don't like it because you have to click/tap a small button? This is seriously the problem? This topic has come up several times now. I am just trying to understand is all.

Scroll up to the top, look at the forum logo on the left. It used to be a link to active topics which is very different than new posts... It's way more cumbersome and confusing now...

For a topic to be active, it would need new posts, right?
The only reason I see anyone would need the active topics button, would be if they come to this site and don't log in. Is this what I am missing here?

Crux, If you don't get it, all good. Just keep using the forum as you have. For the rest of us, we are fighting an issue that recently changed and we hate not having a link to active topics which is not the same as what you describe as new posts.

I did some checking this morning...
Today the forum logo in the upper left corner goes to this link:
https://www.superhawkforum.com/
In December of 2014 the logo in the upper left corner went to this link:
https://web.archive.org/web/20141222...hawkforum.com/
(I used the "Wayback Machine" to figure this out)
Nevermind the webarchive.org part.... note that the link then went to Recent Threads.
As of right now we have New Posts, which is very different than Recent Threads.

In post #19 above there is a wayback link to how the forum used to be. If you click that link you can see it takes you to Recent Threads, which was a super easy way to stay on top of recently posted threads...
That page also shows that at the time VbadVanced CMPS 3.2.2 (or so) was installed, a forum ad-on.
I checked out VbadVanced webpage this morning and it looks like that ad-on is at end of life, no longer supported. vBadvanced No Longer Officially Supported
If you look at the forum today there is no VbadVanced CMPS ad-on listed at the bottom of each page. I'm wondering if this ad-on (or lack thereof) is the missing piece in our RECENT THREADS being gone...
Moderators/Admins:
1) is there a way to turn the VbadVanced ad-on back on???
2) do you guys see a "RECENT THREADS" module that is turned off, that you can turn back on?
3) if VbadVanced was giving the RECENT THREADS link, and we can no longer use VbadVanced, it looks like VBulletin itself will allow us to see RECENT THREADS by using the RECENT THREADS widget... (This link also includes troubleshooting tips for fixing the RECENT THREADS widget if it stops working): http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=318528
*Looks like someone needs to get the RECENT THREADS module or widget working, then link the SuperhawkForum logo (in the upper left corner) to it and we're back in business!!!
Anyone else know anything or hear from Greg lately?

Hey Deatons,
I appreciate your efforts in researching bringing back the "active topics". It will be nice to see that happen.....Thank you! (and an advance Thanks to whomever makes it happen!)
Cheers

When clicking on "New Posts" and there are none, you get this message:
"Sorry, there are no new threads to view.
You may search for threads updated during the previous 24 hours, here."
And, clicking on the link takes you to a page that looks suspiciously similar to the "active topics" page we used to have. Hmmm...
