I can't ride to work because I have to carry too much stuff and I leave home for work for 4-6 days at a time. I kind of live out of the car, just wouldn't work out on the bike, especially with weather to deal with.

I live in central PA, and spend a lot of time there and near Syracuse, NY. Saratoga's near Albany right? I don't get over that way much.

I bought an '06 Honda Ridgeline last year, mostly because I needed something to haul my CRF450X. I love the truck.

1999 Prelude (34-38 mpg)
2006 Ridgeline (gas guzzler, 15-20 mpg)

2000 Superhawk (currently being restored)
2005 CRF450X
2006 CBR1000RR

Can you tell I'm a Honda guy? :)

GUILTY AS CHARGED...

SuperCharged Frontier, big mud tires, low gearing, LOTS OF STEEL... Aprox 14mpg on its best day's anymore...

Infact, the SuperHawk is my way of justifying still driving the truck.. lol I get 14MPG in the truck, and 34MPG on the bike... Thats what, 24MPG average if I do 50/50 riding vs driving... Our Mercury Sable (wife's car) only gets 24-26 when she stops stomping the skinny pedal...

RK1 05-21-2008 01:29 PM

I went a whole year once without a truck, just a car and two bikes. That was 1978. It just didn't feel right. I've had a truck ever since. Not having a truck is almost as bad as not owning guns. It just wouldn't be right.

PUSHrod 05-21-2008 01:32 PM

'98 kitted VTR
'01 Honda Odyssey Van W/Vtec engine. Sorta like having the shuttle craft from the star ship Enterprise to transport the bike up to the mountains with.

vtrrider 05-21-2008 02:26 PM

My SH with stage two jets and jardine pipes gets about 31 mpgs, and when it i give a lot of throttle i go down to 29's.
My mitsubishi mirage 1.8 gets 33...so cars can be beat bikes. lol
I agree with miken996, its not about gas its loving to ride.

I wouldn't mind a toyota or mazda truck.
