short helmet cam vid

Basically I shoved my wifes Nikon Coolpix camera in one of my helmets and went for a short test ride . Its raining here so I couldn't do much and it sucked for the helmet fogging up but oh well. I just wanted to see if it made decent video/audio on the bike. With some work I think it can make decent videos.

Seriously, what kind of camera is that? It fits inside your helmet by your face? That is about the simplest solution I think I've ever seen! Open lid, wedge in camera, don lid, ride. Wow.

Edited to add: If you have a second camera, pleasepleaseplease take a picture of the camera inside the helmet so we can see how you did it.

Yup that's basically it! About as simple and poor man job I could think of heh. I figure with a little bit of velcro I won't have to push my face against it to hold it. That's why you hear me sound like Darth Vader in the beginning heh. Also with the velcro it should allow me to position the camera better so you can see the road more.

This is the camera ..

Yeah I will eventually buy one of the GoPro's or whatever comes out later on that is better than the GoPro. But the main issue with using any camera outside of the helmet or anywhere enclosed is that wind noise kills it, even with my buddies who have the GP. That's why most people end up just putting music in their videos rather than hear the music of the engine. Whatever camera I get it will have to have an aux. mic port so that I could run the mic inside the helmet to keep the wind noise to a minimum. I will admit I was bored and figured why not try out this approach heh. It works for now. When the weather clears up and I get a new rear tire, I'll do a better video. The audio doesn't really do the pipes justice when the shield is closed though . Makes it sound like I've got half my hand baffleing the exhaust.

if your going to toss up a video you need to something in it that will cause the world to end.

on another board i got lambasted for a complete lack of respect for the yellow line ... out in the middle of nowhere

I liked the video, now im gonna have to get back into doing video. I think i will do the helmet mounted as well, its much easier than trying to get the vibration and camera mount failures from happening.
