She's alive!
She's alive!
It's been a while since I last posted since my motard attempt.
I put the motorcycle back to stock, and it sat for a while.
I then put on GSX-R 600 forks and tail, then let it sit for more time. Fast forward to a year later, and I finally got sick of the bike sitting. I tore the gsxr tail off, as it was still an incomplete project, and ended up putting the stock tail back on.
This bike has been sitting for over a year without starting, with gas that is older than that in the tank, and a dead battery. I hooked it up with jumper cables and tried starting it. After fiddling with the throttle and the choke, the bike roared to life. Ran on a single cylinder at first, then cleared up within a few seconds and ran on both. I let it sit around and idle for a few minutes and she runs fine.
I will throw some sea foam and fresh gas in it and run it, then clean the carbs when I get a chance. Should be fun. Can't wait to ride it with these new forks. I can already tell they are stiffer, and the brakes seem significantly better. Hopefully I can ride her this weekend.

Well bad news.
While my bike was down, my friend had my mufflers and fairings on his bike.
Anyway, I spent all last week trying to get them back so I could get my bike running. Well, I found out Sunday that he died when a minivan pulled out in front of him. He went down, then slid into it.

My condolences on the loss of your friend.
