A sad day....

All the babies have been put to bed for the winter. Been a busy day.

Changed oil in two bikes
Changed coolant in the 1000RR
Washed the GTO (while at 30°F)
Bikes to the shed (through the snowy lawn )
GTO on jackstands
Battery out of 1000RR, tenders on the rest

Snow and flurries all this week. ****, I hate the northeast!

Glad to be back in San Diego..... It's a chilly 51 with 50% chance of rain this week. May need to call into work to let them know I can't make it due to inclimate weather ;-)

yeah, I just can't do that. Mine are always ready to go for that nice day. Very very rarely has there been a rideless winter.

Yeah same here, finishing up a huge boiler to heat the house, putting the bike to rest, preparing the snowblower for hardcore snow repelling.
And the worst is that I work outside, minus 30 °C wind blowing, up in telephone poles.
Good times to come...
Well it makes you appreciate summer at least

sell the RR and buy a sled !

i don't know if it's better or worst for us... we get those nice sunny ( albeit cold ) winter days thats still fun to go putt around. we just don't get that much snow down in the valley. so i'm not sure if it's better to put them up till spring or always have it in the back of your mind that i 'may' be rideable weather ?

One reason I like the northwest, but instead of snow we get rain. But it has been pretty cold for us here, which does mean dry weather, just cold.

Only one winter left here and then I transfer to Cali...hopefully. No point in buying a sled. They're too damned expensive to run anyway - registration, insurance, club fees, etc. Hell, we just got our first 1.5" and it's almost the middle of December! I think it's going to be a mild winter. I feel sorry for the guys who own sleds and can't use 'em.

I've lived a good portion of my life in the cold, including upstate NY and Minnesota.

I don't know what y'all are cryin' about. Get a pair of ice skates, a pair of skis, get yourself a nice 20 gauge side by side and go grouse hunting.

Rode to Cooks Corner for breakfast this morning with my surfing/riding buddy on his 998 Duc. We rode out through Live Oak Canyon, had breakfast, then rode Santiago Canyon Road out and back.

I wish I'd remembered to put the liner in my Shift leather jacket, since I was a little chilly in the low to mid 50 degree weather.

Seriously, I'll be hoping for an early Spring for you guys....but wait, we have Global Warming, so you guys are all set, right?

Here in Hawaii it'll be about 82 deg. today. Clear skies and 10 mph breezes. Also, 50 foot waves coming to the North Shore surf sites.

Put my VTR and DT200R away for the winter yesterday too. Unlike most, I am a bit pissed that we have no snow yet. The magazine I work for has 5 new sleds to ride and no snow on which to do it... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Put away all the dirt bikes over the weekend, changed the oil & filter on the SHawk and put the battery tender on it.
Thanks to Al Gore and his interpretation of "Global Warming" we on the eastside of the Rockies have been in the teens and below with snow for too many days now and through the next week.....if this keeps up I am going to have to buy a couple of sleds.

I put mine up the first of November. Had the time and just got it done... We got our first dusting of snow this morning. Kinda mixed feelings on it though. Helps get you in the Christmas spirit. But, I hate dealing with it.

I'm not so sure its the light rain that makes everyone think you're crazy.

Oh now, don't complain... It's not a problem with a little snow or rain... It's when you combine the two it gets problematic... We had 4 inches of snow 5 days ago, then the temps stayed low until yesterday, then we had a good shower of rain yesterday afternoon and now it's frozen out...

Everything has just a slight covering of ice... Just thin enough to be almost visible... And by almost visible I mean assume it's there or you get dropped on your ***...

This afternoon I was taking the thrash out, I didn't have to walk to the trashbins, I just stood on the asphalt and the wind glided me along, the courtyard is like an iceskating rink... Was less convinient the other way against the wind though...

And BTW don't complain too much about the british weather... I did see the sun once when I was wisiting... It was on the front of the paper, next to a pic of the p3 girl...

Pacific Fleet this time, Greg? I didn't think the Navy did that. I know you've had to tough it out on this assignment so California may be just what the Dr. ordered. When do you make the move?

The only thing sadder than having to put your bikes away for winter...

...is living in a place where you can ride all year long but having 4 broken ones parked in your garage.
