That is a great idea. I have a similar thing in my van over the rear view that shows 180*. I think you could make one out of blind spot mirrors for trucks.

A guy on a forum I am on in London is testing this for his friend who is the designer. He says it is just as good as we hope it would be but the looking down to see whats around takes a little getting used to.
