R1 mirrors!!!
Wow. I've had a right R1 mirror for about a year. I mounted it and could not find a match. So I took it off.
I just bought a set, and mounted them.
WOW
I can see!!!!!!!

Hmm.
I have a bunch of '02-'03 Yamaha R1 parts left from a build I was doing a few years ago. When my right mirror fell off for some odd reason (Obviously the bolts weren't tightned down) while I was on the highway doin' 60mph, one of the first things I did when I got home was try to mount up my R1 mirrors to avoid purchasing anything. But I think (This was about a year and a half ago now at least) when I put it on - it was mounted so, that it was not very ergonomic for the rider/me. *I'm 5' 9" at 160lbs..
...Wait, now that I think about it... ...maybe it was that the mirrors wouldn't turn in to face behind me quite like I wanted them to.

Yes, this is correct. They will not point in the right direction.
You've got to drill and put a pin to keep them in the right position.
I don't know how to post pics.
I can email pics to somebody who knows how to post them.

Heres 2 shots of my hawk with R1 mirrors - I tried to see if I had written down what model year I used but I couldn't find anything - I think I used 2000 or 2001 R1 mirrors.
This shot is stock mirrors next to R1 mirrors. Its a bit hard to see because both bikes arent the same distance away from the camera - the yellow one is a bitr further ahead. I still have to move my elbows in a bit to see directly behind me but these did make a big difference in my rearward vision.

No, that's not what I'm talking about.
I know that. Mine bolted right on as well.
I acutally had Barna mirror extenders before these.
What I'm asking you is if they are in the stock R1 postion.
They look like they're not straight. The stock R1 position is a bit backwards and you cannot see very well with them in the stock postion.
You've got to drill and pin them in the correct postion.
My mirrors are mounted with the extention arm straight 90 degree to the bike.
Not folded back like yours look.

I bought a pair of aftermarket R1 mirrors on ebay. I milled down the 3 protruding bumps on the one side of the pivot so they will not position in the slots on the other side. I can now lock them down in any position I want. I accomplished the locking by torqueing the bolt pretty tight and tightening a lock nut with a serrated surface to the end of the bolt. I hit 130mph on a windy day and they didn't budge but will give should they get bumped and I am able to move them back in place. A hand grinder could be used if you don't have access to a mill but I opted for a perfectly flat surface.
