R/R?
So I've reads lots of threads but just to get an answer, my 1998 firestorm won't hold a charge on the battery. From what I read it seems like I need to replace the RR. I just replaced the battery thinking that was te problem. But it's still doing it. It runs for a while and then dies. First the lights and gauges go out and then today the power to the engine died. Is this an R/R issue? And will the RR they have on bike bandit work? http://http://www.bikebandit.com/ric...lator?m=151424. Thanks guys! Appreciate it

It is an RR that you need but that link is no good. If you read threads, there is tons of info on replacements. (R1 for one) and harnesses avail from eastern beaver. R/R Connectors

the link is no good
broken link - E.Marquez's library
and in any case, the better solution is not to replace with an OEM diode old school R/R. Use a modern Mofset style

Ask the manufacturer, anyone here is just guessing.
If it is a Mofset R/R then it is.. If they are using some marketing gimmicks to say it's like a Mofset design,, then it's not.
Personally, based on past experience Mine and many others, i would not take for free a product from Ricks Motorsports....But to each his own.
Again, still...
The R/R from a an R1, a few wiring bits from Easter Beaver and some work on your end.. Or buy one of the Mofset R/R kits from the ebay retailer for twice as much, but all the parts from one supplier.

Regardless of what Bike bandit has for a picture on the site.. the brand they are selling, Ricks Motorsports... If you go to the manufacturer's web site.. it Shows only ONE R/R for the VTR.. and it is an OEm style Diode

Here is another option for you ... go to roadstercycle.com...This guy will either send you the parts to build the mosfet yourself or he will build one for you... check out the website and watch all of his videos.... he does some quality work and the price isn't bad... for a complete setup ready to plug and ride goes for about 140.00. Do the research and check it out for yourself but this is quality work that this guy Jack puts out. This is who I went with...

ZX6R off the bay for cheap, cut off its plug and solder/crimp on some females and plug into stock harness, wrap in elec tape. My bike has ~8k miles on this with no problems. Lessthan 50 bucks.
