Ohlins shock question
Ohlins shock question
I recently purchased a used Ohlins shock from a fellow forum member (see attached cropped pic) and the bottom mount is rigid. MY question is to other who own such a shock: is there supposed to be movement in the cylindrical insert located in the bottom mount or is it rigid by design? It seems odd to to me that the bargain OEM Showa uses needle bearings and that a premium piece like the Ohlins would be rigid.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Ohlins uses a part that is basically a heim joint. Pull the two collars off and clean/lube the spherical ball until it rotates freely. I have to do this on pretty much every Ohlins shock I rebuild, so it's pretty typical. Pack it full of wheel bearing greese and you should be fine until it's ready for it's next rebuild.
??????????
Oh crap......Just done the same as Mick, bought a 2nd hand Ohlins too. Thought the same question too.
So the bit sticking out both sides is actually 2 bits? And they should come out? Is that the same for the top as well?
Looks like my next job is to pull the shock off again.....
