I don't like the look.... Not at all really... Probably could be made pretty good looking without the fairings, but that fairing sits way to high or something...

not for me...

although i would like the fuel injection

SuperChicken not SuperWhale

That bike isn't even close to a SH bro

610 lbs makes it a big fat slow SuperHawg for folks who don't know any better or like fat & slow...simple as that...

Just like the Zuk VStrom engine is a de-tuned FI SV1000 engine so is the Veradero.

It is a VTR engine with FI and de-tuned cams.

A buddy of mine hear in TN that flys international flight has imported several models of this over the years to ride.

It's big and heavy just like the VStrom

I see guys riding VStorms and they look like the same guys that ride dual sports on the street, not my style.

With all the Ducatis riding around SoCal, I would think Honda would do well with an updated SH, but I guess thats not the case. Anyway, its fun riding a bike that is rarely seen.

Same engine, but has a steel frame not aluminum, setup for touring, not sport, it's like calling a Vstrom a TL1000R, the Varadero is no Superhawk, not a bad bike, but a very different bike.

Yeah, I have one of each, both black.

The Vara is not a helluva lot slower than the VTR on the road. It also has a 25 litre fuel tank, a standard seat and pillion which are both comfortable, room for the legs of my 6ft tall wife on pillion, and suspension that easily handles gravel road touring.

On the GPS, mine has done 210 km/hr (a bit over 130 mph) on a gravel road, so don't knock what you don't know.

Simply put, the bikes are similar because the motor is basically the same, but the chassis are totally different because of their different purposes. The similarities and differences together make it fun to have one of each.

Hey guys I just logged on to hondaitalia.com and they still show a VTR1000F it is
carburated and certified for EURO2 emissions so they are still making this bike or have
a lot of them for sale and it is only going to certain markets???? Colors are red and the
one offered in the US for 2005.

Back to the top for Honda's narrow mindedness.
Why the heck would a company make products and only release part of them to certain markets? Sounds like they are cutting off their own market.

I'd love to have one. I've lusted after them in the European market for several years. I'd like to have shaft drive, and a spoke wheel option, but if they'd bring it as is I'd buy it.

So here's the important question, who will be the first to put a Varadero FI on their Superhawk, if indeed they are the same engine?

The engine block is the same... The gearbox and the internals are different for lower revs and more grunt though... So if you decide to try it you will need a pcIII to get the Varadero ECU to play nice... And you will loose a portion of the tank for the fuel pump...

I have all the parts except ECU lying around... Thinking of going with a microsquirt controler instead... But I have to many ideas and to little time... Plus I decided to do chassis and brakes first, then engine... I tried it the other way with a previous project and that's scrapmetal now so...

Oh... And I have a complete FI from an SP2 aswell and complete wire harness/ECU... Leftover when a friend totaled his bike...

some of these guys riding dual sports on the street will definitely show you their tailights accelerating away from you in those great curvy canyon roads you have out there.

couldn't agree more. i feel like the guys on the Vstroms for example are some of the more hardcore riders out there. I'm here in new england and there were adventure tourers in the parking lot up until the day before it snowed...guess it helps when you have heated everything though

dig it! it's not about what you ride, but how you ride> I have a dual sport (XR650L) set up for 90 percent street so that I can ride off road, on gravel/dirt back roads, and in adverse weather conditions, as in winter. The second time I low sided the hawk, it had to be resurrected on a reconstructed title. I sold an 88' 1000 hurricane and a 93' xr650l to get the hawk. When I bought the hawk back from my insurance co for $1200, i knew it would be a while before I could get it together again. So, i bought another xr650l with the money I got for my wadded hawk. I like sliding the xr around by throttling it up and this gives you much needed practice and confidence for track/street riding when things a little lose on the *** end.
