New Member 1998 Superhawk

So I have just bought a really sweet Superhawk from a family member. Bike, all the gear and a three tray trailer for $3800. Not a bad price considering what it came with.

I am pretty mechanically inclined, but it's mostly on vintage WWII/racing aircraft (see picture). I'm sure that I will ask a few questions that have been asked a thousand times, but I know how to use a search function so I shouldn't be too bad. I got a lot of good information from here before purchase; so I figured that I should become a member.

Welcome to the group. Great photo! One of my old instructors used to help crew Rarebear ages ago, he always had some awesome photos lying around. I worked 3.5 years in a small maintenance shop working on light GA aircraft, eventually took up a job flying as an instructor and moved onto the airlines soon after.

These bikes are pretty neat, and most people find them pretty reliable as well. I feel you're gonna love your hawk, and it'll give you something else to wrench on for fun.

Nice P51mech38! Rarebear is hands down, my favorite at Reno. I was a shop grom hanging out with Lyle and his wife over a decade ago before his passing. Very nice people. All aviation folks are great. It was amazing having all those engine parts mag tested, nearly bankrupted them just trying to get her back into the lineup.

It's funny, i'm learning to fly currently, and there's def. some kinship with motorcyclists and aviators, every time I'm at the airport there's at least 5 other bikes.

I was Bear crew from 2003-2005 before moving to Precious Metal, and large part of the rebuild in 2011 and now one of the crew chiefs. Wait till you see her this year! We gonna whoop the Bears ***!

Anyway here she is on the trailer getting ready to go back to the Bay Area.

Already has the high pipes, ignition advance, carbon fenders, seat, and braided lines. I think the only other mod i will do is the 6 spoke wheels.

Mmmm, 6 spokers! They'll look good fer sure. After you get a lil more familiar with this board, you'll notice some essential mods that can't go unchecked. CCT & R/R are the most important 2. Then there are a few tweaks to follow.

Do you have any previous 2 wheel experience?

Dad is a retired AMA crew chief with 28 national wins in Grand National Dirt Track, 250GP, and Superbike. So I have been riding since I was 5. I raced Downhill Mountain Bikes as a pro for 15 years; retired in 2011. Some Supermoto along the way.

Oh and what is CTT & R/R?
