I just got my new Corbin also.... not sure I like it yet.

Did you ride yours very far? Broke in yet?

I did over a 100 miles my first day (took the long way home from work) and my butt STILL hurt! Also when I accelerate I slide backward...

So was just wondering how you liked yours!

hmmm... I thought Corbin and Sargent seats were designed to keep you back away from the tank, so sliding back shouldnt be a problem. I hate sliding INTO the tank when I brake.. I guess it's back tothe drawing board..

I really enjoyed my sergent on the Hawk...but, yup, you slide a little with that one as well...seems like putting that tacky stuff on the tank helps some, though I never tried that...don't even know what it is called...LOL

I bought a used Corbin about a year ago....very well used and yeah i do slide back a bit when I accelerate (that is when my bike doesn't die on me...stupid elecrical issues ). I think its better than the stock, but I was hoping for more.

Mine is a bit different with a pattern in the seat - its kinda visible in my gallery pic...

https://www.superhawkforum.com/galle...puser/490/sl/r

They do take a bit to break in but its a lot more comfortable that the stock seat ever was imho.

Corbins take a while to break in. I have about 800 miles on mine and it is starting to take shape. Notice a big difference after a 350+ mile ride this weekend. I can actualyy walk today. To help with the sliding try putting a little Corbin Saddle Cream on the seat. It is a little pricey but it does work to protect the seat and it helps with the slideing. If you do use it, put it on after the seat has been sitting in the sun for a bit.

Thanks for the feedback. I just put in my first 100+ mile ride on it today. I'm very happy! Just right for me @ 6'1" 190 lbs. They ask for your inseam when you order it, but I don't know if they really do anything with it.

Although it does seem that with this seat you can ride upright, or tuck and there is no difference in comfort. It feels great at 85 on the free way with my left arm on the tank tucked. Wish I could try a sargent too, but i'll go with ignorance is bliss...

Okay, I'll bite. What's your inseam?

It's better to be more towards the tank. It puts more weight on the front wheel. That's why I like my Sargent. You don't have that bulge right before the tank like the Corbin to keep you scooted back.

I see what you mean.... well I guess i'll have to go with the "it's better than the stock one" self brainwash and hope I never get to sit on a sarge. Dang impulse buying!!

I had a Corbin on my 954 and hated it. Too high in the front, could barely reach the ground at stoplights, and I'm 5'10". My *** didn't hurt anymore but the seating position killed my back instead.

Have to agree with RocketBabe- I like being on the tank. I put the stocker back on asap. My *** is fine.

My bike came with a Corbin and the torn up factory seat. Honda seat is a real board, only redeeming feature is the folding gear hooks...cool. May repad mine and add a small cargo bag to it in place of the passenger pad for swap meet rides and ****. My Corbin has the backrest shaped like a doughnut. Haven't used it but the value of such devices is largely determined by who rides in front of them. Corbin seems well padded further back. I usually ride closer to the tank, but change position alot on long rides. 5'9', 160 lbs. I've ridden my old beemer a few hundred miles at a stretch and find that many things are more important than seat comfort. Change position alot, notice the scenery and ride with people you enjoy. If your *** hurts, get off a while or decide it doesn't.Good beer might help, in moderation, of course.

I have the Corbin smuggler and the stock seat for passenger riding.
The Corbin is very firm and compels me to ride up on the tank, which is where you want to be if you are in the twisties. You can push back but if you start leaning off and dragging knees you'll be back up there. 300 miles Saturday and I got the bony sore butt, yet it wasn't too bad. Control was great so it was a good trade.

Just checked the miles, I've got over 2000 on my Sargent since bought in February. On the first few 100+ mile rides I wasn't sure it was worth it. Surface too slippery and felt like it increased ride height. But it soon broke in after 500 or so and got more grip. Now I absolutely love it, better support and my butt never gets sore anymore. I'm sure the Corbin will break in after some time in the saddle as well. The stock seat sucks by comparison.
