Smile New 2 Group

Hi, new to the group here. Saturday 2/8/14 I became an owner of a 2000 Firehawk. Here is a picture of what she looked like when I got her, I got her on accident kinda, I was looking for a new bike, as I have had a "Connie" in the past and gotten rid of her for mechanical reasons. I found this Firehawk on Craigslist over the weekend and scooped her up. She was in good shape other than paint. so I painted her right away. I went with an Air Force theme, still some details but I'm happy with the progress. Not too bad for $2200? I had never even heard of the Firehawk before finding this one. She is a rocket ship and what a fantastic noise! Got to open her up a little on a short ride but waiting on warmer weather here in south Texas. My wife got our little girl to take a picture while I was riding and they were in our Jeep going to visit friends I enjoyed the ride, the noise, the bike runs awesome and all smiles here.. Ladies and Gents... "ANGEL"

Welcome! I like the paint job. A newbie here was just comenting on how easy it is to make this bike thier own, being very versatile. Not to mention pretty easy on the wallet...well, most parts.

Maybe because it's not called a Firehawk. But I assume you knew this, because you found this Superhawk Forum? However, just in case you are confused, here the bike is called a Superhawk and outside the states it's called a Firestorm. Whatever you call it, it is always a VTR1000F (frame designation 'SC36'), a.k.a. VTR, a.k.a. Shawk, a.k.a. Fuel Pig, a.k.a. Super Fire Hawk Storm, ect.

Make sure you read through the Knowledge Base here. Terms you should get familiar with:
CCT (Cam Chain Tensioner)
MCCT (Manual Cam Chain Tensioner)
R/R (Regulator Rectifier)
PVLIR (Petcock Vacuum Line Inadvertant Relocation)

Have fun with V-twin power!

Welcome aboard. I'm sorting out my Firestorm but she didn't need a paint job. Nice work.

Yeah, THAT was funny.
"Are you sure you put the vacuum line in the right spot?"

"Yeah, of course I did! But it still won't run"

"Are you really sure?"

"Yes!"

some time later...

"Guys, I'm a putz. The vacuum line was put in the wrong spot."

That was pretty funny. You were SO adamant you couldn't have messed it up.
We've all been there, so couldn't really give ya to much crap for it. Heck, when I put my bike together, I didn't know why it wouldn't start up and run. Little did I know that the vacuum line wasn't attached to the petcock! Was an hour before I figured that out haha.

My fat fingers just couldn't find the other nipple, there didn't seem to be any other place to put it but yeah that sums up the experience pretty well

That sounds like something one would say after having a few drinks and a rather frisky date haha

Yea it is a 2000 Superhawk not Firehawk I know but Firehawk sounds better lmao.. I finally got to ride her and get her up to speed (and then some) today. RIDES AWESOME And its nice to ride something to our local "bike night meet up" and don't see 5 of them sitting there, like the GSXR's and Busa's. I am very happy with her over all performance and handling. And did I mention I LOVE the NOISE
