look at what i broke

so heres how my weeks been going. tuesday sept 6 was my birthday. that went well. sept 10 we were supposed to go on our honeymoon. the thursday in between i decided to go to a buddies gym for some bjj. havent trained in a while so i thought it would have been good to go and grapple a little and get some cardio in before the honeymoon. well that was stupid. i was grappling with a buddy about 10 minutes after getting there and he tried to sweep me and then i heard what sounded like a 2x4 being snapped in half. and everyone in the room heard it too. i fell over in a whole lot of pain, thought for sure i had a bone coming out of my leg. got a little white but stayed conscious and didnt puke. got to the hospital, had some x rays. broke my tibia, pretty sure thats the one, the bigger of the two bones. basically my shin bone. and to make it worse its a spiral fracture meaning my shin broke into 3 pieces with a break running up in in a spiral. they drugged me up good but the setting of the bone still hurt like hell. figured that was that, theyd cast it and send me on my way. ortho doc came in said i need surgery. finally had the surgery sat morning, they ended up putting a rod into my shin just under the knee and to the ankle. feels pretty good now compared to it being broken and splinted. the incisions hurt the rest is fine. needless to say the honeymoon has been put on hold till next year. im off for 3 months while i recover.

heres my xray, you can see theres a small crack and then the obvious big bastard where the bone has left its spot in my leg

wow. painful I'll bet. Looks looks a pretty high sweep in combination with your knee being locked straight to cause a break like that. Nasty **** bro.

well now you're gonna have to get creative in terms of your honeymoon consummation activities. Ride em cowgirl!

I honestly think he did the sweep wrong but I don't remember much of it. it was your basic scissor sweep from guard but I think instead of putting his right leg across my chest he put it in my thigh and the other swept the ankle. I'm just glad the ankle didn't break. I can deal with this. I couldn't deal with the recovery associated with an ankle break in this manner

OUCH!

Damn! Heal up quick buddy. That's going to take awhile to get back to normal. Did they put you in a cast after surgery? Tibia is quite a big bone to break. Hope you got some good pain pills?

Broke the knuckle off the bottom of my Tibia in a motorcycle accident when I was 18. Hurt like hell. They basically used a long screw to attach it back to the bone. Had it removed after a year because riding in the cold would hurt like crazy for hours after I got off the bike. Also I limped on that leg for a good year before I got back to full strength.

Still your going to get a lots of sympathy on crutches, and when you tell then you did it doing BJJ! everyone is going to think you are one hard bastard!!!!!

there was a kid on the other side of the curtain when i was in the er and he was drunk as ***** and kept running his mouth to the nurses, calling them ***** bitches etc telling them to suck his dick, stuff like that. at one point he stopped and i fell asleep, woke up to him running his mouth again, just being a huge degenerate. so the nurse looks at me and shes like sorry you cant sleep, so i said, and very loud at that, " if my leg wasnt broken id smother this fucken guy with his own pillow"

the guy shut up and he tried to make friends, hes like howd you break your leg, i said doing mma. his attitude changed right away and he tried making friends. i told him i needed to sleep because i have a surgery coming up and he shut up. lol.

i should try to get a gibble parking permit

man trust me i dont have cankles, my leg is so swollen right now i cant even bend it. it was find while the tensor bandage was on it keeping it together. ortho doc pulled it off yesterday and it started to swell and yeah, its taken all the bendy skin you have for your joints and filled it up with swelling. its pretty bad, but feels a bit better than yesterday when it first swelled up

My wife, who used to be an ITU sister, says "Thats a fine line of sutures and they will heal up well".

She should know, her legs look like a photo of the moon, but that was all through falling of bikes!

Get well soon!

I'd reall talk to your doc about doing that depending what else you are on/doses could cause toxicities, the last thing you need on your list is risk of kidney/liver faliure or resp depression. might want to ask for a pain management change if it's not working.

wow! that's interesting. I have taken them both recreationally and the oxys were significantly more potent. Maybe the amt., the cannabis sativa, and the ron rico may have altered my perceptions, or more likely, the lack thereof.

haha, well the bottle says perc and oxycodone but the real oxys are something else, theyre like 16 percs in one if theyre the little green ones i think. thats what my brother said. these percs are still from when i had my wisdom tooth cut out a few weeks back so that worked out great. and that doctor said i was fine drinking on them. had some spiced rum last night, felt awesome, then again my brother came by and brought some outdoor with him, which was great because i havent smoked in years and it did me in good. did the dogs in too which was fun to watch, lol.

having a hard time getting the swelling down, its coming down really slowly but i wish there was a way to speed it up. my knee and ankle hurt the most, the actual break isnt that bad with the rod holding it together but with all the swelling theres no extra skin for bending my joints. plus with the staples right there it makes moving that much more difficult. i tell ya i wouldnt wish this crap on anyone. atleast i only broke the big bone and not both and didnt get a bone coming through my skin
