Loco's Project Bike

Loco's Project Bike
Well I totally loved how they rode when I was a kid, and man were they fast. But by today's standards they need more power to hang with the other bikes out there. I am trying to work out a way to mount and balance a VTR engine into this frame, keeping the seat position and wheel diameters the same. Has anyone ever done this??

Your off to a good start...it is red and yellow.
Try adding a Hydraulic Throttle.
I would not suggest using your current riding apparel since you butt will be so close to the ground.
Good luck getting rubber with matching tread patterns.

Ok here is where I'm at in the project. Still have to figure out how to get that front end shake out of it. Any suggestions? Maybe a 954 front-end?

Re: Loco's Project Bike
You may actually want to give RaceTech a call first.
I must say, it is a fine looking machine though. May I suggest a couple of single-sided swingarms from a VFR? Now, THAT would look trick!
You may, however, have to do a search on the model years though to see which one would fit.

Great news.. last weekend, I installed some Moriwaki rear sets and a great streetfight headlight I got from O.C. Choppers. I'm still thinking about that 954 front end, but I may need something with a little more rake.

Nice "bike"
My only concern would be that the size of the front wheel would slow down steering. Perhaps one of the special 16.5" front wheels from a MotoGP bike would do the trick?

Well.. this bike is going to be more of a chopper than anything, so steering quickness can be sacrificed for a more hip look. I like the yellow plastic forks that come stock, but I need something that can handle the motor weight and torque. (I don't think Tyco engineered their Bigwheels for 105hp). Also, I was looking to get some carbon fiber front and rear fenders. Time will tell...

Loco,
I think Mickey Thompson still makes the right size tires for the rear in a street and slick application. Koni shocks in the rear with a heavier sway bar and a race tech "springer" front end will give you that chopper look and keep the performance levels high.
I like the VFR swing arms idea...BUTT you will certainly need to rethink your riding apparel with this mod, *** it would give new meaning to "seat of your pants feel".
For Pete sake man lose those pedals up front...if they catch in a corner you are done for!

I have an idea of how to get rid of the pedals.. more to come on that idea.
I guess you already know what kind of chaps I'm gonna be wearing when I ride, and *** has nothing to do with it, literally.
I have been considering the springer front end, for the retro feel, but I want to stay true to the original bike and I'm not sure if that's really the direction I want to go with this one.
As far as bling goes, I was considering a disco ball but the mounting angles are all wrong, plus the spotlight and the wind make it just more trouble than it's worth.
Good ideas guys, keep em comin.

Re: Loco's Project Bike
A friend just brought his Bimota Tessi over from Cali and it has a very unique front end. The wheel sits in a swing arm and the wheel pivots on a center bearing. when you move the bars, a couple of rods move the wheel side to side in the swing arm. VERY trick!
Here is a similar one.

Now, now boys.... no need for anyone to go "postal". There is plenty of room for stupidity, er, I mean, uh, ingenuity, on this one
BTW, I liked the disco ball idea. I may give that one some thought (what about mounting a miniature wind tunnel so YOU control the airflow around it)????
