Like having a new bike again...

Spent last night installing my new Michelin Pilot Roads and took some twisties on the way home to get the scrubbed in a bit.

WOW... they make the bike just want to fall into the turn. This probably has something to do with my 020s having 9K miles on them, but I swear I totally forgot how awesome new tires feel.

On the agenda for tonight is shimming the needles, adjusting the TPS and fixing the Clunk-Die.

Later

Re: Like having a new bike again...

I'm interested to hear your feedback (and others) on their experiences with the TPS mod/fix.

I recently did the TPS fix. WOW. That's about all I can say. WOW
It was like adding 10 WHP to the bike. Throttle response is INSTANT now, wheelies are 100% effortless, and the throttle control is much more consistent.

Mine was a 880 Ohms in it's "stock" position. I could NOT get the TPS under 610 Ohms without un-installing it, and then knocking out the brass screw guides. There just wasn't enough adjustment. With the brass screw guides knocked out, I was able to get it set to 506 Ohms.

If you can, get some alligator clips for the tips/probes of your multi-meter. Makes the process much easier than trying to reach in there and hold the probes to the 2 contact poles of the TPS.

Anyone else done this TPS mod/fix with same results??

right now my bike is running perfectly fine, without ANY tuning issues or problems (everything is stock), so I am hesitant into changing settings in case they can have any negative effects.

FYI... I experienced the clunk-die problem about 2 or 3 times, but I guess it was due to my low idle. After adjusting the idle to about 1300 rpm, it sometimes clunks, but it never dies!

Yeah, my friend did the TPS Mod / Clunk-Die fix and had similar results. Totally improved the power and delivery from the engine.

Re: Like having a new bike again...

Well i too have done the tps, fix.....

I don't know about 10 hp but i can say the bike runs much better.
I can honestly say the bike carbuerates perfectly...

I have a dyno jet stage 1 kit and erion slip on's .

my reading was about 925 ohms and i adjusted it down to 547 (the best i could do without modifying the tps) I figured 547 was much closer than the 925 and that it should be good enough.

all in all i am very happy and my bike is a pleasure to ride strong all over the rev range.
