Just got a Superhawk in Murrieta Ca.

Hi everybody,
just picked up a 2000 Superhawk.42,000 mi. I had to replace the R/R with 07 R1 unit, installed Krieger Mcct's, rebuilt petcock, did TPS mod, was 800 ohms, reset to 510 ohms. Did oil/filter change. It looks like its had the pair removed, it has block off plates on valve covers, but nothing capped in airbox. Has full 2 brothers exhaust, k&n filter, factory pro jet kit. Id like to delete the rest of the emissions, not sure what to cap, what to remove. Not sure how to set up vacuum tees for balancing. Im waiting on float bowl gaskets to do carb clean/sync.
Anyone in So Cal that wouldnt mind giving some pointers?
The forums have been great! So much info to search through.

Marc

also broke plastic choke fittings. Have some brass ones coming from Jack Flash.

Welcome. Looks like you found a very nice example. Does it still have stock CCTs? Looks like it does.
Too bad it’s that color. But not many clean SH for sale anymore.

Just installed the krieger mcct's. The bike was really taken care of by first owner, somewhat with the second, the guy I bought it from just rode the snot out of it, no upkeep, but he only had it for 4 months.

Welcome aboard. I love to see a bike with some miles on it that's been taken care of like that. Looks very clean. Congrats.

Local Help

Welcome to the forum. You're pretty close to me (Costa Mesa). I think the only thing left as far emissions is the Charcoal cannister. It's pretty simple as is the Vac. connectiuons for balancing the carbs.I would ride down and show you what to do but, I just had Rt shoulder surgery and will be out of commission for a while. In the mean time, the front vac feed is just to thr right of the intake manifold. There should be a small bolt screwed in to the cylinder. Remove that and replace it with a similar threaded vac. nipple. I use a heat resistant cap to seal it when not in use. For my rear carb, I put a "T" in the vac. line to the petcock. Capped when not in use. I'll PM you with my # this afternoon.

If you don't mind saying how much did it cost you?
I've tried to contact Jack Flash unsuccessfully
How'd you get a hold of him.
BTW Welcome!

Doesn't the rear carb manifold have the port for the petcock with a T for the CA Charcoal and / or PAIR?

BTW, I'm laying here with my right arm in a sling after my rotator cuff and tendonesis in December. Now need my left redone 10 years later. Also need fusion of C4&C5 after L4&L5 last August with my 4th prostate surgery in December. After 65 it's all down hill. Only saving grace is Medicare.

I pm'd Jack Flash about the brass fittings. I believe they were $32. Should be arriving this week.
krieger tensioners I found on his website when i searched krieger manual cam chain tensioners. Clems garage is his business. $77.45 shipped to 92584.
Does anyone have an emissions removal thread with pics?
whats a good baseline to start at with f/a screws. Im new to the carburator tuning thing. I think i have a factory pro kit. Jets are 50's and 178's. K&N air filter, and full two brothers exhaust.

Thx!
Chuck the k&n stay with oem type
go to 48 max or even 45 stock pilots
Front178 rear 180 Keihn
stock needle jets & stock needles shimmed .040" (2 x .020" OEM washers) or FP needles at 2nd or 3rd groove from top + OEM .020" washer
do not drill extra hole in slides (fill with epoxy if hole was added) or use Factory Pro springs if I'm not confusing them with the Dynojet kit.

My memory has never been good but its gotten bad since turning 60

BTW I've had APE MCCT since they came out just was curious...

I found a pretty decent write up on emission removal. Im just not sure about the long nipple on the bottom of the front carb. Does anyone know if this gets capped, or is open. I dont recall if it was connected before.

Off the top of my head it's a spigot for carb hot water heating. Check the shop manual fuel and cooling sections. What year and is yours a CA model? Is there a nose connected to each carb and one between them otherwise still?

I just had in my hands 2 sets of carbs lat night but may can look today...that's the front carb.

Its a Ca model. I removed the emissions equipment, capped 3 carb ports, changed the front mixture screw from 3.5 to 2.5 turns, put it back together, and i'll be dipped! She runs nearly perfect!!
