I started my SuperHawk today!!!
It may not sound like such a big deal to you guys, but it felt so good to start my bike and listen to my un-street baffled Yosh slip-ons today. I haven't ridden since last Tuesday, and I didn't ride today.
I had arthroscopic knee surgery last Wednesday. It was done by one of the best orthopedic surgeons around. Aside from doing my wife's shoulder about 10 years ago, he's also worked on surfers such as Kelly Slater, Sunny Garcia, Shea Lopez and Trent Munro, and motocross riders James Stewart and Ivan Tedesco.
Mine was a simple medial meniscus and repairing cartilage behind the knee cap. So I've been mostly on the couch and on the Forum for the last several days. I'm walking pretty well now, and working on improving range of motion. I couldn't quite get my foot back on the left peg (and I don't even have rearsets), but I was close. Pretty good for less than one week, I think. He said I should be able to surf in about 4 weeks (he surfs too, by the way). And I'm thinking I should be able to go for a cruise on the VTR in about 1/2 that time.
So in the mean time you guys will have to put up with me, since my motorcycle Jones is only getting satisfied on the Forum and by listening to my bike idle in the driveway.

Thanks for the well wishes. My wife rode Ortega today, and I drove our Tacoma up there to shoot some pictures of her. I'm feeling a lot of progress, but I don't want to rush it. Canyon riding requires a lot of foot pressure on the pegs. However, I can get my left foot on the peg now.
