How much did you pay for your SuperHawk?

OK I'll play. I shelled out on the high end in June of this year, $4600 and a ride to North Carolina to pick it up. It was SHOWROOM and absolutely unaltered when I picked it up at 4,441 miles. The previous owner was METICULOUS and I have all purchase and service paperwork in addition to the full history. The history and respect of the bike bit was very important to me as it saves headaches down the road. I had searched all over the US for 2 months after deciding I wanted one and this was the lowest mileage and nicest condition 03' blue one I could find, so I snagged it. This pic is from Saturday after detailing, I installed a set of T-Rex sliders right after the picture was taken. Mods that I have done since picking it up include the Givi rack system, t-rex sliders, and Pirelli Diabolo Rosso II's, it also got a full fluid flush after pickup to start our relationship off fresh. I have a new set of Micron High Mount Carbon Fiber pipes to go on next, need to grab a PAIR block-off kit, new air filter, and jets and shims for 8541 Hawks setup at which time I'll do the TPS tune. Front forks and a double bubble over winter and I'm done. Oh, ChikinLady's popped up 2 days after I got home with 4,500 miles on and another in NEPA a month or so ago with 5,000 miles. Such is life haha.

New guy here...bought a 1998 Superhawk this Tuesday for $2400 which I thought was a decent deal at the time. It has nearly 25k miles but was recently serviced by the local huge dealership in 4/2013, also has new chain, plugs, and battery. Previous owner also installed brand new tires, shinko, but they do the job fine. I sold my baby in June and really missed the open road so enter the Superhawk. My last bike was a 1999 Triumph Speed Triple with 14k miles in Roulette Green bought in 2012 for a song and sold for $4k (only reason I sold it). I put a lot of TLC into that bike and made some money when I sold it.
Back to the Superhawk...I do like it but it has a few cosmetic issues here and there including a few minor paint chips and an ugly small-medium sized tank dent that is driving me crazy. If PDR cannot repair I will likely hide it with a Honda sticker... I don't love the riding position but I've had sport bikes before, it's not terrible but the upright but sporty position of the Speed Triple was better. I enjoy the primal sound and feel of the VTwin but it seems to lack the power of the Triple in moderate to high rpms. The SH does handle incredibly well and is lighter than the Triple was, that is really where the SH shines!
So in conclusion...I miss my Triple, like this Hawk for different reasons. I hope to fix up the minor issues, ride it for a year, and the sell it at which time I may be able to afford a new bike. In hindsight I think I still paid a bit too much for the SH but it seemed about right for the market in KC.

I payed exactly one 1996 Miata. I valued the car at about $3500 due to low miles and it's relatively stock condition. His bike was on CL for $2700. Engine had about 15K miles on it and the frame had 52K miles. Bike is mostly intact and stock. Has "bed liner" paint job and upgraded lights all around (HIDs, LEDs). I know I lost on the trade but a working motorcycle that was god to go was more than what I would have gotten for my car in $s. I know he got the better end of the deal.

Paid $1800 about 6 months ago for mine. Pretty much stole it i thought, it's alot of bike for little money. Had Jardine RT-one's, new sprockets and chain and 28k miles. Put 4k miles on it thus far and looking forward to many more. Going through it this winter and completely redoing it, won't look like a normal Hawk anymore!

2002 red SH with 2500 miles on the clock....but...needed some love
PO had crashed in 2006 and insurance total due to fairing stay tab on frame broke. I had an artistic welder friend fix it for 50 bucks like new.... then bought a brand new seat, fairing stay, mirrors, blinkers, one left side fairing, some paint, and miscellaneous hardware for about a grand total... so into it completely for about 3k
plus an additional 300 bucks for corbin beetlebags
so 3300 as sits with 2500 miles.

'98 with miles around 15k. $400 ... but it was picked up from a seller who got it from a salvage yard. It will be a track-only bike. The carbs are being cleaned by a friend now, it has yet to be started so wish me luck.
I had a nicely set up '98 years ago (previous bike is my sig line pic) and really miss the vtr as a track bike, odd as that may sound.

$2900.00 for a mint red 98 Hawk. I even got the original owners manual with it.

Ya know, after having my '98 Firestorm (I'ts a Canadian model) since new I thought maybe I would sell it and get something else. Thought about a Kawasaki ZRX-1100. But I found prices for VTR's to be a lot lower than what I expected once I started looking around. I posted it a couple times on Craigslist. Asked $3500. But even with low miles, a fulll Ti highrise Moriwaki pipe, Coerce fork brace and clutch cover, Piuge screen, Dynojet kit... I didn't get a single inquiry. VTR's just don't seem to be overly desirable I guess. At least not at this stage.
That said, I still really like my bike and don't mind keeping it at all.

I know these bikes are getting old now but it is curious how they are worth very little $$$ on the open market. I wonder if the value of the VTR1000F will actually increase in coming years due to the fact that there won't be many around and that it is a fairly unique bike that seems to stand the test of time. It will never be worth a lot but it does seem that they could potentially double in value as they become more rare.

$2900 for a mint condition red SH with 10,000 miles on it, 2-brothers carbon fiber cans. Seems like the "normal" price on Craigslist in NC is about $2,500, but for bikes with about 30,000 miles.
Had to clean the carbs, and have bought a zx6 R/R and will do CCT's this winter.
Think I probably could have found one for closer to $2,400, but this one really is in great shape, and I'm happy with it. Looked at Ducati Monsters and would have paid about $5k and been saddled with Ducati parts and maintenance.

I paid $300 or $400. I honestly can't remember. Why so cheap? It was literally a basket case. Some assemby required.
