And, if anything wears out or breaks, its a great time to upgrade

Sargent seat w/non standard piping (med gray) $420. Lockhart Phillips dark smoke screen less than $50. EBC HH front pads (big improvement) $70. 2 brass washers for needle shim $0.22. Pilot screw adjustment (since I don't have the tool) $20.

Plus 5 rear and 3 front Qualifiers and DID chain and sprockets (yet to be installed) which I consider regular maintenance items. Tack on 2 sets of plugs, 2 air filters, 1 headlight bulb, oil and filters, coolant and brake fluid exchange and that's it so far at 35,000 miles...Knock on wood

I have a pretty good idea what my bike has cost, but that is in Australian dollars not US dollars. And of course apart from exchange rate, you need to consider the differnce in price we pay for stuff compared to you guys in the US.

I did most of my own work, except for the blue paint and most of the polishing. I also got most of my genuine parts at what we call "trade price", which means what mechanics pay for it from Honda. So that most probably makes it closer to what you guys get it from Honda for.

So I am not one of those guys that took it to a custom bike builder, and just paid for all the work to be done. And I reckon it has cost me $25K including the purchase price of the second hand bike (98 model bought in 2004). But for that money, there is basically no part on the bike that has not been touched.

I reckon if you are worried about the money, don't ever add it up!
