how many miles left?

This came up the other night- how many miles can you ride after the low fuel light comes on? I had to chose between the FDR (manhattan"highway" with no shoulder, and surface streets where I could push my way to (relative) safety. I cant remember; does anyone know this majic number of miles???????

I can get around 24 miles after the rlod comes on, that's taking it fairly easy.

Yeah I think I've gone around 25 miles with the RLOD flashing. I think I pulled in at the gas station running on fumes LOL

The other day my light came on, I went 10 more miles, and put 3.5 gallons in the tank. I might have made it 10 to 15 more miles. 20 to 25 total after the light.

The big bird likes her fuel so when the lite comes on I start looking for a station. One of my first rides on my new-to-me Superhawk put me on the side of the road 12.5 miles after the RLOD came on. I had spent my time on the forum before I saddled up. I just couldn't believe it - now I expect it. 97 or so miles and I'm out. I would bitch but the bike is one of those performance monsters that you just don't **** with. It works, it works damn good, it just gets sucky gas mileage. I used have a C-gas dragster that had the same problem.

Most cars/trucks allow for approx 20 miles after low fuel light. Its probably about the same for motorcycles.

However, since I don't like to push my bike for more than 20 feet, I fill up when near 100 miles on the tank.
