Everyone should have 3. A roadbike, a play bike, and something for fun.
Me:
Roadbike - 98 Superhawk
Play - 01 CCM Supermoto
Fun - XX EX500 Racebike

When you get beyond 3 you start to have issues, sometimes lots of them.
I had 7 at one point ack!
I wouldn't mind have a dirt bike, and a chopper or classic project, but then I'd be at 5 and again with the headaches

I need to step up to the 2 bike world. My VTR has been working double duty, providing both a LOT of street riding along with serving as my trusty track steed too. The problem is that it is TOOOO perfect of a streetbike. I can easily put in 400+ plus mile days and carve up any twisties I've met from Northern MI all the way down to Deals Gap with ease. So when I think of mods to do to 'er for the track, a lot of times I pass because of the effect it will have on the streetability. I have come to accept that the only way to keep my nice shiny 'hawk still kicking it so well on the street (21k+ so far) is to step up to the two bike world. I have been looking at both baby v-twins like the SV 650's, as well as I-4's like an early CBR600RR or f4 or f3. If I stick with twins, I will stray from the Honda stable as I am looking for something smaller (the RC51 is amazing but not what I am looking for on the track, I want to go small, light, and very agile). If I go I-4 I want to stick with the big red H.

MBS is truly a pain in the a$$ sometimes, but also way fun.

98 SH
01 FZ1
06 ZX10
91 VFR400
87 SRX-6
85 RZ350

Those are runners, afew projects as well, for when it snows. seems that the Honda contingent is getting more use lately, but the FZ1 is the main work horse.

I don't understand why you'd have so many 250's. the ninjaa 250 hasn't changed over the years unless other people ride them...

Maybe the KNUCKLEHEADs think if a person owns more than 1 bike, they must have erectile disfunction or Anxiety Disorder.

I guess the former could cause the latter.

I had two bikes (VTR1000F3 and `95 ZXR400) until I sold the kwaka last weekend.

So does having my bf's bike in same garage and being able to ride that whenever I want get classified as a second bike now?

I had a Ducati ('95 SS900 CR) which I adored, but I hated the endless wtf hassles. Traded straight across for the Duke. Instantly fell in love with supermoto handling/braking/overall headbangerness, but when I rode it down to Laguna Seca for MotoGP I thought I was going to die. So sweet on the backroads, so incredibly wrong for the freeway. So tired of being teased by my crew for not having a 'serious' bike.

So, what to buy to fill out the stable? 4 cylinder 600s too peaky, 4 cylinder 1000s way way too mental. A 4 cylinder 750 might work, but I am so not Mr Gixx. Triple? Maybe but Triumphs are a little porky.

So if it's gonna be a twin, Superhawk just snapped into focus as the perfectly obvious choice. All the Ducati virtues (soundtrack, rideability, TORQUE) and none of the negatives. Less charisma, and none of the I-own-a-Ducati ethos, but unquestionably a superior execution of the same basic concept.

Backroads/In-Town hooligan insanity, and a refined, out-of-the-mainstream big twin sportbike, are just about ideal. Me so happy.

As well as my Hawk (or as I'm in the UK - Firestorm) I also have a Yamaha TDM (Another BIG twin)
Can't see myself getting rid of the TDM as although it lacks some of the high end grunt of the Hawk/Storm (20 Bhp less) It's fantastically comfy, and loves to be thrown around corners

Ooooh!!! A TDM!!!! That was my last bike, before the SuperHawk. I had a black 93 TDM, and I loved it, too. It had the best riding position to do both sport riding and longish touring. I learned how to hang off on that bike. I still remember heading slowly into the cliff at Deals Gap, sparks flying, as my line gradually crept toward the edge of the road (left-hander). About halfway through, I realized that I could hang off farther to stand the bike up more, and make it around the corner. I also remember having a really mushy brake lever when I got to the lake - the first time I had ever experienced brake fade. I was a little sad to see it go, but the Hawk is so much more of what made the Tedium fun in the twisties, and I don't tour ride anyway.

Thanks for bringing back the memory, especially the picture.
