Hi, new member from NJ
Hey everybody,
I've been driving a NT650 Hawk GT for about a year now and I'm thinking about something with more power (and a windscreen
). I think I've fallen for the Superhawk (I've been reading around this forum for awhile), and I'm thinking about (really wanting to) pick up one from a friend of a friend. It needs some work (mostly a tank). I just have a couple of questions.
How is this thing on gas? I'm guessing around 28ish mpg.
Is the SH any good at two up riding? and do hi-mount exhaust burn a passenger's feet?
I understand they switched up the design sometime ('02?). What really changed?
Thanks for the help. I'll let you know what happens.

Great gas mileage compared to a truck
I wouldn't ride 2 up cuz the passenger will fall of when you pull the front wheel off the ground leaving a stop light

Don't have hi-mounts so not sure how hot they get...you could wrap them if needed...
Not much changed on the 2002s from earlier models except they added a fuel meter to the guages, but I think the motor and most everything else was left unchanged...
howdy!
so mileage wise i get about 120 out of the 4.2 gallon tank. I ride pretty hard so i'm sure if my wrist wasn't so twitchy i'de be able to bump that number up a tad.
2 up riding kind of stinks (probably my only gripe). In my experience its an arm buster if you're going any longer than just rolling around town. I have Jardine High mount pipes and my passengers have never complained.
Like FLO2' said, the guages were the only real notable change after '01 or '02 (forget which year) if you can get a Hawk with the updated setup you'll be stoked. having a gas guage and clock on there is super helpful.
good luck! hope you get the bike!

My paggenger (wife) is spoiled because we ususllay take the BMW.
Since it has been out of commission lately, we have taken the hawk out a lot lately. I have Jardine Hi mount and there is have not been any heat complaints. The biggest problem with the passenger is no enough room between the pegs/seat and no backrest, but you will have those problemswith any "sportbike".

I get 40, high 30s if I ride hard.
As for passenger, like any sportbike the passenger is sitting up in the stratosphere. I removed my passenger pegs, since my wife rides her own bike, an SV650S.
