hi from Melbourne

hey everyone, I'm VixenAndrea or VA for short... I live in Melbourne and ride an '07 Firestorm (what you guys call a Superhawk) shiny black, yoshis, ford AU horn, heated grips and chrome rim stickers. Still got a way to go with mods on the bike but for now thats as far as I have gone. Ive only been on the road for 3 or 4 years but have been on the dirt bikes in my younger years.
I also like to ride on the water and the jetski is currently the fastest one on the water in Australia at this time .... got a racing kit on it!

Welcome

Did they continue making the Firestorm passed the last year they sold the Superhawk here, which was 2005 I believe? Was 2007 the last year then?

Is the Firestorm a popular bike in AU?

I might be pounded for this here but it Superhawk/Firestorm is more of a niche bike here in the states. Or at least here in Florida. I only know one person that owns one and several people that have owned one. If you like the Ducati 916 you will probably like the Superhawk/Firestorm. Which to me is just a sign of good taste as the Ducati 916 is a beautiful bike and Honda did a great job in copying a good deal of it.

Howdy VA, a big Texas Welcome to you. It's always refreshing to hear from the ladies that ride. As far as I know you are the only female rider on this forum.

We did have a woman from Colorado on here about a year ago. Don't know what happened to her.

My wife rides a Suzuki SV650S, and yes VTR1000's are rare here in the States. I've seen no more than 20 since I bought mine new in '05. It draws a lot of stares.

thanks for the welcome! yes the last year of the firestorm was 2007... very popular in Oz and we even have a firestormers site....
over here the firestorm seems to be the stepping stone to the cbr1000rr
i love the firestorm though - and it handles well and is comfortable on a long ride (we do 5000km round trips over 7 days).

thanks everyone for the welcome... i am not particularly active on the forums that i belong to other than to check out what rides are going on or to get some help with blinging the bike. but i like reading the tech talk (even though i dont understand it a lot hahaha). i am just going to feel very special that i am in the minority (female rider) on this particular site

Welcome Andrea.

To answer bdudemons question, Honda continued manufacture of the VTR into 2006, and continued importing them until stock ran out. We still have some new stock for sale in Australia, although not too many left now.

Over here the VTR was a good seller for Honda, and they are quite common on the road. Plenty of them about, and you see one almost every time you go for a ride.

i see quite a few of them around - and in fact know 4 people that ride them and thats just my small circle of friends. there is quite a large contingent of firestorm riders in melbourne - mine is gloss black but the ones i see most seem to be yellow or red.

I, too, am a Texan and extend the warm welcome that we only can. Moonster is right that the girls are rare around here but you are not alone. Alisquid was great entertainment for a while but the duties of Bf and family eventually took her from us. When I say she was great entertainment I mean just that - she was a good rider, had racer friends, and was not afraid of her bike. Refreshing would be my description. I am a member of OzFirestorm and wish you every good road.

This is made from the pork shoulder. Cheap meat, very tasty, can be loaded with fat if not trimmed right in the prep process. Never served alone but heaped high with veggies, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce and cheese. Served on a taco - you got those there right? Can be flour or corn - hard shell or soft.

Have I got you thoroughly confused now?

Recipes are all over the internet. Serve them at your next social function and everyone will think you're brilliant. As you might be. After all, you ride the best bike on the planet so why not?

You think this is weird do a search on barbacoa. The concept is thoroughly disgusting. The prep takes hours. The flavor delightful.
