hi low beams on together question

Someone mentioned doing this and it works great. Light ouput is fantastic. I'm just wondering how safe it is to do this. Can it fry any wires damage the bulb or pop a fuse or anything If left on for a long period of time

Yes, you can most definetly fry the switch or the wires... The stock headlight wires are to say the least underdimensioned on the hawk... Go get a relay kit instead and you won't need to use them both at the same time...

Cool thanks. I'm gonna have my hid in there by the end of the weekend so lighting won't be an issue after that.

Then do yourself a favour and get a relay... The HID can definetly destroy the stock cables...

Altough I do recommend a full retrofit, as a HID bulb only has some considerable downsides... It's been discussed in detail, search around and you will find plenty of info...

I'm well aware of the pros and cons of an hid and a retrofit is in my winter lineup. The hid will also be wired through a relay from the battery. I'd like to take full advantage of the light output and last thing I need is the light dieing in the middle of the night due to crappy factory wiring. Thanks for all the info

If you have a relay harness installed, having hi & lo on will not fry the OE wiring or switch because they are not carrying beam voltage and only are triggering the relays.
