Hawk sitting up too straight?

Is it just mine or do Superhawks sit up straighter while on the sidestand? My bike was parked around a bunch of other bikes the other day and a friend noticed the difference. After compairing I do see a very noticable difference. Looks as if it would tip over alot easier.

it might just be yours, mine leans over like any normal bike when its on the kickstand. either that, or you park it on a weird section of ground that didn't allow the bike to lean over normally.

Take your steel toe boot out from under the stand, then re-check.

Just kiddin'. I don't know.

If you dropped your forks in the triples, it will stand up a bit straighter...

well mine is like that too. very vertical. and the wind did blow it over. had to replace my clip-ons, and my exhaust. insurance covered most of it. now when I know a storm's coming I have a strap to hold it from tipping over. I'm gonna have a shop bend the kickstand stem a bit.

Shim the rear shock and the bike will lean more on the stand. Oh, and the turn in will be quicker too. A win-win of sorts

+1

6mm spacers work well on the VTR in regards to changing the geometry for better steering, without losing straight line stability.

And the bike will lean over more too.

I think alot of them sit pretty straight up...maybe a little too much. Why should we have to shim things when bending things is more fun.

I had a flat tire a couple of weeks ago and the bike was sitting straight up. I didn't realize it until I started putting air in the tire and the bike started leaning. It made a huge difference, it moved so much that I thought it might fall over before I got it full. Just wanted to let you know incase there is a chance that your pressure is a little low. It was the rear tire. they are supposed to be at 42psi, it says on the tire

42psi is absolute max pressure. I wouldn't fill it up that much if I were you. I keep mine at about 30psi.

Mine is pretty upright as well. I'm worried a car is going to tap into it parking and she's going right over.

I compared my VTR with my wife's SV. Mine is leaning just slightly less.

Before you bend or cut the side stand, check those front forks, they may not fully extend while the bike is on the stand with the stock springs.

+2 The shim will fix the side stand issue & make for quicker steering ! Well worth the few minutes of work .
